What does the average American make in LA, NYC, Miami, Chicago etc where they film these videos is a better question. Factoring in middle America etc just skews the realistic standard. Even dual income households at $59k can’t afford to live there. (As you addressed)

I'm recently retired. The most I made in a year was $142k. I'm a technician and had a blue-collar job.
But in LA with the high cost of living that income doesn't go very far.

And regarding income inequality, if one guy goes to work and another guy joins a gang, at the end of the year the one who got a job would have more money than the guy who joined the gang, and therefore income inequality. It's just that simple. Do not let them play you for a sucker.

That means the averaging income in America has only rose about $12000 or25% in 20 years

Meanwhile, the average price of a house has increased more than 60%

Also, when I was in school, they told us to never buy a house the cost more than you make in five years
