First time cruise tips: Top Cruise Mistakes Live

Hi Cruisers, Everyone makes mistakes right? But a mistake on a cruise could ruin a long awaited and expensive vacation. This week we will publish a video we call "Top Mistakes New Cruisers Make" in which we list 17 mistakes new cruisers can sometimes make. In that video we'll also give you a few ideas about how to avoid these common cruise mistakes. Of course, we can't cover every possible mistake than one could make on a cruise, so we thought this would be a perfect topic for this livestream. So bring your cruise mistakes, and share them with our wonderful CruiseTipsTV community. Who know, maybe you could help a fellow cruiser avoid a mistake you made. Better yet, perhaps you'll learn how to escape a similar cruising pitfall. Are livestreams are always fast paced and super fun. This one promises to be particularly fun. Great stuff. Not really poor mistakes, but a couple of general tips.

1. On NCL, the carpet in the stateroom hallways has a fish pattern, and the fish swim toward the front of the ship. Easy way to determine which direction is forward or aft.

2. On our cruise last month, my wife got the idea to pack our daughters' clothes in complete outfits in ziploc bags. We then told the girls that they could pick out any bag that they wanted to wear that day. They always had tops that coordinated with their bottoms, they had enough clothes for the week, there were no arguments about what to wear, and we had plenty of baggies for wet bathing suits, etc.

Making mistakes gives me an excuse to go back on another cruise and rectify my errors.... LOL!!

When staying in an inside cabin, be sure take an alarm clock with you! Our first cruise was in 2008 and we had an inside cabin. We missed so much because we slept in very late everyday due to no windows/light in the room.

Been bing watching your vlogs. My mistake one my first cruise was making the most of my drink package on the first sea day and missed my first formal night. I blame it on being sea sick, but I don’t sea sick 😷

Sheri! We are back now and I can't thank you enough for your support and advice! A few things to mention.... 1. The weather was unseasonably rough at our ports and we were not able to go to any of the beaches that we planned on. My husband then reminded me that you said to always stay flexible/roll with it on a cruise and we still got to see beautiful beaches at every port with a relaxed attitude. 2. I was able to purchase a rash guard for my husband at port when after 2 days in the sun he got quite pink and it saved his skin! He was so happy swimming in it and it was all because of your vlogs showing you wearing them! 3. The cruise insurance absolutely kept me sane with our travel delays. We got onto the ship at 1:30pm finally after days of flight delays. 4. I bought the magnets that you recommended and they were fantastic! Thanks again for all that you do!

If your ship has a self service laundry room, bring 2-3 Tide pods. One of my travel pet peeves is going home with dirty clothes.
FYI: Royal Caribbean ships do not have self service laundry rooms....

Does Carnival have butler service and for what room types?

Once a passenger held up our ship 2 hours. We all thought they were late coming back from an excursion.
Come to find out they found out about a family death we’re so overwhelmed took a flight out from port and finally got the message back to the ship.
I felt very bad for that person.
I was happy that princess had care and concern for this person and waited that long.
You never know what’s happening so never be quick to anger and judge.

Plan a budget other wise you will go crazy

This Sept. 2018 will be my 3rd cruise. My husband and I are cruising Norwegian Bliss to Alaska. We are excited. The only issue with Norwegian is no public laundry. We cruised on the Norwegian Pride of America last year and again no public laundry. Although they have cleaning service by staff i’m not use to others cleaning my personal items.

Honestly, I went on my first cruise last October and thanks you you guys.I watched you from February last year as i was so excited and wanted it to go well. It was amazing. I do not have anything I would change. I had everything I needed but not to much to be a lot. Enjoyed my trip as I went with the flow. Had just enough fun and relaxation for it to be perfect. I cant wait to go on another cruise.

Big mistake just got back from Norwegian western Caribbean cruise and didn’t bring enough cash for shopping at the stops, and the only ATM in the ship was out of order! And really didn’t feel comfortable using my credit card on the few shops that cash

Downsizing after a cruise. I did that after a 17 day land and cruise trip to Europe. Don't worry if you don't bring enough of the basic toliteries as the hotels and the ship provide them. But do carry your favorite makeup, sunblock, hairspray etc.
2. Be prepared for all weather. The rain caught us by surprise in Rome and in was cold wearing shorts and tees.
3.Pay ahead of time so that you are not caught by surprise by extra costs.
4. Make a envelope and at the end of the day take smalls Bill's and put them away for your trip.
5. Take Airborne ahead of time especially when flying.
6.Over and under packing, Yikes!
