How to Repair a Dripping Gutter #shorts

In this video I show you how I repaired a dripping gutter today whilst it was raining, using a cast iron gutter joining kit.

I did have to improvise as the gutters, over 50 years old need fully refurbishing. Today's repair was intended to stop rain water dripping onto the path below and into the house, causing damp. On tightening the bolts to clamp down the EPDM gasket, one end of the repair was still leaking. You are advised not to overtighten cast iron gutters, and on tightening the bolt a little further to stop the leak, the gutter cracked. I have plenty of spare guttering and will cut a new section in the summer, but today to complete the repair, I used some Geocel superior construction sealand.

Geocell the works is great. My window cleaner recommended it to me a few years back as my new build bungalow had a few leaky joins on the plastic guttering. Just a case of opening the gasket clip & squeezing it in before shutting the clip.

I’ve not had any success with replacing rubber gaskets in gutters. The geocel roof and gutter sealant (available in black or grey) though is brilliant. Used it several times and it fills and seals joints perfectly, even when wet

Yep, never got these rubber gaskets to work and also done the same cracking the gutter.

Linseed putty for the win, far more mailable, easy to solve discrepancies in gutter angles/levels.
Once dried/cured, it’s easily painted.

dont use rubber on cast and use linseed putty for the joints, not a plumber anyway

Either weld or putty cast iron with rope... And thought it would go without saying don't screw through the gutter ever?

I tried those rubber gaskets and the same thing happened. My roofer laughed at me and told me o use plumber's mate. Was much easier.

I also did one section with a wire brush and used your paint. The rest I took and got sand blasted and powder coated, much easier. I think another option would be blasted and then your paint system.

😂😂😂 з такою роботою можна було зразу залити селіконом...!!!В резиновій прокладці, дирку не роблять, щоб насадити на жолуб...!!!🤣🤣🤣Якщо вже ставлять жолуб на заклепку, шуруп...,то резинову прокладку садять на селікон перед диркою..., коли заклепкою або шурупом стягують..., то тоді вже для більш позитивного результата, ще проходять зверху на стику
