Saw this video a long time back and saved it. Really glad I did. I have a Franke Atessa so although slightly different the principles are the same.
I spent more time trying to align the tap straight and grub screw in a very awkward position. Got there in the end - female senior citizen who likes to be independent, feeling pretty smug right now, thank you for this video, it was a great help! 😊

Nice one. You just saved me £300! The 'plumber' came and took a quick look at it, told me he'd have to replace the entire tap, 2 hours labour plus parts, couldn't do it for over a week. SO I took a deep breath and gave it a go! I happened to have a tiny hex allen key and a 17 mm spanner, and used lemon juice to clean instead of vinegar. Worked perfectly. Many, many thanks!

Did exactly what you did, albeit a little customisation for my tap version, and it worked brilliantly. I have earned at least 5 husband brownie points. Thank you and al the best for 2023.

The drip is gone and sanity is restored!! Couple of slight differences with the tap but the principle was the same. Thanks for posting. Not all heros wear capes 🙌🏻

Nobody has commented for a while but this is still helping! I struggled to get the cartridge out. It has a 17mm nut rather than the 14mm you showed, and was absolutely solid. The cartridge does not protrude from the casing like yours, so had to get a socket on it, and the tip interfered with the drive for the socket, so had to be careful. However, having sprayed WD40 and leaving it for a while, it did come. When it came out the plastic inserts and seal were all left in the tap casing, so look carefully when doing it. However cleaned them all up, put in vinegar and reset and refitted and now all good. Thanks!

Adding another comment to say that the advice perfectly fixed our Franke mixer tap. Had a couple more disassembly steps, but the fundamental advice was spot on.

Hello, just discovered a leaking mixer tap and thanks to your tutorial think I can tackle this job. Thinking it might be a washer replacement but only washer I saw was the blue ring, like you said if that is deteriorated then find a replacement, but firstly do as you have done and see if that works. Thanks again for your video, before it's saves people hundreds of pounds according to the other comments.

Previously I've always replaced the cartridges but inspired by this video this time I stripped and soaked in white vinegar. I was sceptical as there really wasn't anything much to see in the valves. ACCOMPLISHED! No drips. THANKYOU! 😁

Well done mate, my kitchen tap has been dripping for a couple of weeks.
I did this and all good now . The tap is only 2 years old after a new kitchen
fit out . They don’t seem to last very long now but I do live in a hard water
area. Cheers

Saturday 11 May 2024 I have just managed to stop the leak in my tap following your instructions. Being a woman unscrew the cartridge was the difficult bit as I need it a bit of muscle strength but I managed at the end . Only vinegar worked for me when cleaning the cartridge bits a pieces . Again I was surprised as I could not see and scale accumulated in the cartridge .
BIG THANK YOU . Great video
Oh I forgot to mention also when I changed the cartridge I learned that I could change the direction of the close and open of the tap lever . Before the lever closing position was forward towards the kitchen sink, now the lever is backwards toward the wall, leaving me more room / space on the sink . I AM SO HAPPY !!!

Thanks very much for your video. Our tap was leaking and followed your instructions exactly and I can’t believe I’ve done a plumbing job that has worked. Over the moon thanks to your brilliant video. Thanks again

Excellent video! A few differences for the model of tap we have, but the basic principles were the same, worked a treat!

Was very sceptically to whether this would work as had read and watched various tutorials about how I’d need to change the washer…… but WOW! Worked an absolute treat. I would advise anyone to try this method first before trying anything else.

Amazing, thank you so much! Like other stories, a plumber took one look and said we should go back to the supplier - which would be just pain and hoops. For me it was that blue washer on the end of the cartridge not sitting flush, but was skewed and creating a gap. I reseated it, screwed the cartridge back in, and the drip is sorted!

Having watched the video I did not believe this could possibly work. I felt sure I would have to buy a new cartridge. I'm amazed to say I followed it and it worked. Thank you so much for posting this excellent video.
