How Did Obi Wan meet Qui Gon Jinn and become a Jedi?

By the time of the clone wars, Obi Wan Kenobi was one of the most powerful and respected Jedi masters in the order and was one of the very few Jedi masters to actually survive Order 66.

As you may already know, Kenobi was not the most naturally talented with the force and his midi-chlorian count was in fact relatively low compared to other Jedi. However, his sheer determination and commitment to the Jedi order allowed him to reach feats which few other Jedi had achieved, defeating the chosen one and even becoming a force ghost.

However, when Kenobi was a child, few believed he was destined for greatness. At the age of 12, Kenobi was at the bottom of his class and it seemed that in all likelyhood the youngling would end up in one of the Jedi service divisions such as the agricultural or the medical corps.

In a bid to impress his master's during the initiate trials, Kenobi fought ferociously against his opponent. So ferociously in fact that his current Jedi master refused to train him, telling the young Kenobi that be was too violent to become his Jedi apprentice.

With his dreams of becoming a Jedi knight shattered, Obi Wan was sent to the mining world of bandomere to work with the agricultural corps.

Fortunately for obi wan, Qui Gon was also sent to this planet on a seperate mission. Qui Gon had watched Obi Wans duel at the Jedi temple with interest and had not shared the other masters beliefs that he was too violent or unskilled.

Qui Gon requested the young Jedis help to test his talents. His mission was to help qui Gon defend against a criminal organization run by qui gons own fallen apprentice Xanatos.

It turned out that the whole agricultural corps operation had been set up by Xanatos so that he could lure in and kill his former master qui Gon jinn.

The personalities of Kenobi and Jin often clashed. Kenobi was a practical and logical while Qui Gon was more rebellious and a rule breaker. However the two would be forced to work together to defeat Xanatos, eventually culminating in a duel between qui Gon and his former apprentice.

Although Xanatos would escape, Obi Wan showed his potential as a Jedi knight, proving to qui Gon that the young Jedi was worthy of further training.

Over the next few years, the pairs bond would flourish into a father and son like relationship. Kenobi would learn much from Jinn, especially about the living force, while Kenobi would help keep his master from straying too far from the teachings of the Jedi, even preventing him from falling to the dark side after the death of a loved one.

The close bond between the pair made them very effective and they were sent on many important missions together by the Jedi council. Their effectiveness was so we'll known by the council that they were even sent as ambassadors of the council to sort out one of the largest political upheavals In living memory, the blockade of naboo by the trade federation.

Their bond was so strong that even after the Jedi masters death, qui Gon would continue to guide obi wan, teaching Obi Wan the secrets of immortality as a force ghost.

I don’t get why the sith want eternal life and don’t achieve it but the jedi do, some of them become force ghosts, but could this also happen to sith?
