Yeah... rent is 65% of my gross income, the amount I have after tax is... pitiful

As money loses value, people who own a lot of property get wealthier. Average people do not benefit from inflation.

And they wonder why so many Millinials and Gen Z are refusing to have kids!

Most of the data is based on the corporate economy not the situation of regular people. When corporations flourish the majority of human beings suffer.

I paid my mortgage off early after years of hard work and I'm still frustrated at the state of the economy. Just bc I'm comfortable doesn't mean I'm not frustrated for everyone else out there struggling. These times are hard!

Nobody gonna talk about the covid inflation on products due to nobody being able to provide them not going back down when everyone is allowed to work again? They increased prices by 30-50% and never brought them back down.

My mom keeps telling my I need to save for a house... I've tried explaining to her that the down on a house is around 3 years of income for me no including my living expenses like Rent. But the time I've saved enough to get a home loan the trivial amount I've saved will not even be enough to walk in the front door of a bank. So many of us have simply given up. Maybe I'll own a home when someone dies, it's about the only way.

$2k-3k per month is not 30-50% of most people's incomes... you can only get those numbers if you ignore taxes. For most people, that's 50-90%

I bought a house a few years ago. A huge problem is the cost of goods and services. I built a deck with my father, the lumber alone was near $2000. like 5 years ago it would have been maybe $500-800. Theres not a project I can do myself thats not under $1000. Thats not even talking about paying someone else for that. we have like 50 small projects that need to be done but if at the cheapest they're $1000 each, I just dont have the money to spend on it all

The worst thing about the economy is seeing land as something that deserves profit, as opposed to a necessity.

I’m so stupid for not being born into a high net worth family ugh need to work on that

It's not good for even people who were first-time home buyers a few years back. Their towns have now reevaluated their tax burden. So you bought a house, and now your taxes have been raised to meet that 50% increase in value. It's not good for anyone.

If the common people are not doing good the economy is not doing good simple as that

We are GenX.when my husband was just graduating trade school/getting licensed, 9/11 happened. It tanked work, then he was laid off for ages. I was a stay at home mom all of these years. We had to move to a new state for work. We are right there with you millennials financially. We missed the window to buy a house and we live in a state with really high home prices. Now that I am working, I don’t make a lot. My husband just turned 50 and is trying to figure out what he is going to do when he gets too old for his trade work. Honestly, looking back at friends and family and their financial experiences, timing is everything. Our friends who are 8 years older are doing awesome. They worked for the state and got really awesome pensions (which have now been greatly lowered in benefits) they bought their home when the housing market crashed here. Timing. And, yes, government choices and spending are awful too.

I bought a house post 2008 crash. Now renting a place 1/2 the size of my house cost 2X my mortgage. It’s 100% broken.

Property valuation increases can harm too. Many states lack a cap on property tax increases. That means if you live in a state with high property taxes, you can literally be taxed out of your home. Its a nightmare.
