They turned down a promotion that won't even come. These companies dangle promotions like a carrot on a stick

They didn't realise working from home IS the promotion!

Nobody wants to be in an office all day. Being micromanaged, stalked on your lunch break, meetings, constant interruptions, noise all around, office clicks and drama...ughhh. List is endless.

The fact that "leadership" thought this would work is clear evidence that hard work and talent is not what get you promoted, obedience is.

They're not turning down a promotion, they're turning down the chance for a promotion which is WAY different

Not once has my physical presence in an office or an in-person meeting been necessary to successfully completing a project.

As somebody who has a job that cannot be done at home I happily support people in this. Means less traffic for the rest of us on the commute to work. Less wear and tear on the roads, less fossil fuel usage, more parking spaces. Win-win...

No one gets promoted now anyway. The only way to promote is to leave for a new company.

My sister does medical billing, has for the last three decades. She took a small pay cut of $1 to work from home back in 2019, just before full swing pan. Not having to get gas and eating food at home was enough she had $200 more in her pocket every month. Working from home is always more worth it.

As a Gen X, I have your back on this. There are some jobs you shouldnt have to travel everyday for. Some companies need to see how much time and fuel that actually costs and make those jobs remote. As a choice. Some people like traveling to work.

I was getting up at 3:30am to get the commuter van to work and getting back home about 5:30pm, sometime as late as 7pm if there were accidents. The commuter van was $275/month. When Covid hit they told us to work from home, then decided they didn't want to give all of us offices afterwards. I put that $275 on my car loan and paid the car off 6 months early. I now have more than $500 more per month and I get up for work at 6am, start work at 6:30 and I'm off at 3:30. Yeah this is better.

Saying I wont be eligible for a promotion if I dont come back to the office is like saying I wont be eligible to be a millionaire if I stopped playing the lottery.

Underrated bonus: you can throw your laundry in before you clock in and switch that shit at lunch. Got a 15 minute break? Throw those dishes into the dishwasher.

Being able to complete mundane household tasks on your breaks makes your weekends that much more spectacular. Maximize those daytime hours 🎉

Companies that don't let their employees work from home just want control. If you don't trust your employees to be able to work from home then you shouldn't have hired them in the first place.

Millennial here. There is something to be said for being at work on Zoom in mere minutes after waking up and for an 8h day only taking 8h. Companies need to re-examine why they need people to be physically in the office.

Lmao they weren't gonna promote them anyway. Office work is soooo outdated and unproductive.
Dell just wants to use their leased office they're forced to pay 😭

As an introvert, I see people who get to work remote full time as living the dream already

Even pre-covid I never understood how people would pick any job that requires them 2-3 hours just to get there and back. The commute to my previous job was 10 minutes (on foot), and it's 15 (by car) for my current one. Anything beyond 30 minutes would be unacceptable to me.
And yet, I would still not go back to office and rather quit if forced to.
