Gen Z has it worse than millennials

Generation Z has been disproportionately pummeled by rising prices, higher housing costs, larger student loan balances and more overall debt than the millennials before them.

* Gen Z is spending more than millennials on housing and insurance.
* Gen Z has more debt than millennials did, even after accounting for inflation and higher incomes.
* Roughly 1 in 7 Gen Zers are maxed out on their credit cards, more than any other generation.

Forever upset that instead of investing in real estate when it was affordable I was busy being 8 🙄

No one would have these problems if they just made their bulletin boards a work expense.

I’m a younger millennial. Gen-Z has it way worse, but the bar was already under. Let’s not compete for last place. Going from not being to afford a home, to not being able to afford a home more isn’t something to fight over. Let’s bring down the prices all over with the vote

I'm still blown away that my boomer Grandma knows exactly how bad the rental market is.
I barely mentioned having to change apartments and she was already ranting about the ridiculous costs with accurate numbers!

Having dealt with older generations calling us liars for years about how bad it was, I feel like millenials are more likely to empathize with gen Z on this.

Gen x- our first home was $110k, sold 12 years later for $120k. Now according to Zillow it's worth $297K. Unless the current owner installed gold toilets...yeah, housing costs are out of control.

I can see that gen z has it worse. As a millennial, I think we need to work together to fix the problems facing young people.

😢 I'm Gen X, and I'm on your side. This is not the future I was promised either.

People tend to forget that college prices have also skyrocketed while the expectations of companies that their workers will have degrees or multiple degrees with years of experience for entry level pay is unreasonable

Ironically, it was an out of touch Nepo-Baby Millennial who coined the term "Avacado Toast."
It's less about Generation v Generation and just Rich v Poor.

Gen Alpha is going to live in a cruched shoebox with 100 roommates unless we pull a Logan's Run.

Should have been born a few decades earlier and invested early on. Skill issue

The worst part is when boomers say that younger generations are wasting their money then turn around and spend $400 on temu and similar apps. Every boomer ive met has spent absurd amounts on dropshipping and online purchases that they dont need. My grandmother quite literally spent hundreds of dollars on temu and amazon buying random stuff and then got upset when we couldnt get groceries.

The way businesses raised food costs during and kept them up after the pandemic is unfair and infuriating.
It’s profiting from a crisis, and it’s shameful.
They’re getting away with it, too. Gross.

Millennial here. Saw a recent article about boomers struggling because they didn't save enough money for retirement in this economy. Nah, ya think? How does it feel with the shoe on the other foot?!

Can confirm. Millennial husband and Gen Z wife. Maxed out cards, behind on rent, both working 40 hours a week, not having groceries, and not buying anything for ourselves. Crippling depression. No TikTok shops. Everything goes to bills. Interest for loans are too high, so we can’t catch up. Milk is $6 a gallon here. Cheapest rent for a small two bedroom is $1600+ a month. $3000 emergency dental surgery, but they wouldn’t offer a payment plan. $3000+ interest on a credit card up front. (With insurance!) Wouldn’t dare try to go to college. Can’t afford it. Got a tax refund of $44 for both of us. Sure did help. Too poor to afford anything, too “rich” to receive government funding or assistance. We don’t have an inheritance. Had a full time job at 17, but I had to take care of myself.

Behind, behind, behind.

We’re enjoying our life immensely.

Meanwhile, my parents make less than I do and own a house. Their house payment is half of my rent. Dad pays cash for everything.

We are not having children ever, needless to say. I’m sure a lot of young people feel the same way.

I'm here for the solidarity between Millennials and Gen-Z. We might not always be the same, but we can agree we've both been screwed!

It's not a competition. We're all struggling.
