The problem is a lot of markings on roundabouts are faded, especially when you are in the middle

As a motorcyclist for over fifty years, i found the biggest problem with driving today is no body indicates, or if they do, just at the last miniute, so well done on your skills showing how it should be done

The problem with lanes is lack of signs ahead of junctions. Road markings just before a junction are useless when cars are obscuring them. Leads to confusion on approach unless you know the junction. As for roundabouts specifically people dont indicate correctly or spiral outwards correctly.

Hi Pin, you explain everything so well. I struggle to process road signs and road markings in time to get into the right lane at roundabouts. Would love a video on this please!

Just remember one rule STAY IN YOUR LANE. CHANGE WHEN IT'S SAFE! THIS COULD BE AFTER THE ROUNDABOUT IF NEEDED.

Some of the roundabouts here in the north east are just ridiculous, designed to cause accidents. Oh sure it would be fine if everybody knew where the lane went but the markings were last seen in 1997.

Pin, a big Big thank you for your channel, content and my new fresh driving shoes. I passed 1st time with 1 minor after 20+ years of not driving, or at least learning to. I was 18 when I last drove a car. Last year I did my theory which I passed in the August. Lessons recommenced in the September and my test was this week. My driving instructor was a great help which i appreciate but equally we're your videos and the continuous reminders contained within. Thank you so much for all your hard work and to have added (and continue to add) that extra layer to making me a safe, competent and confident driver. 🙏🏾

One of the more significant issues of this is when there is more than one exit to the left which often confuses drivers thinking a single left arrow is used for the first exit only.

its an all too common thing, I find myself holding back now when there's other traffic in the lane next to me because it happens so often to have someone suddenly turn up in front of you.

That was very helpful now I know how to deal with roundabout thank you for this video

Thank you. A bug bear of mine is exiting off from mid to left lane, doing so deprives those turning left from proceding.

At that particular roundabout your best strategy is to choose the middle lane, which is marked for A463 only, as that should leave nobody in any doubt about your intended exit. The problem with using the left lane is twofold.

First, that lane has a choice of two destinations, Coseley Road and Black Country Route (A463) so the traffic always tails back in that lane, but traffic moves more smoothly if drivers can join the island from each of the three lanes when a gap arises.

Second, when you set off onto the roundabout in the left lane, you allow the traffic joining from Coseley Road to imagine that you might be leaving on the first exit (Coseley Road) and when you keep tight on the left - as you must - a car ready to join from Coseley Road may have its view of you blocked and be tempted to pull out in front of you. Just review from 1:41 to 1:44 and see how the black car can't see you because of the white one and almost comes out into your path. In fact, they stopped so late that they encroached on the island and left you with only just enough space to complete your manoeuvre safely. Look how close you are to their front quarter at 1:46. You simply don't invite that problem when using the middle lane.

Defensive driving makes life easier for everyone.

I remember failing my first test for drifting across like this. If only I'd had videos like this when I was learning!
