Edit: I understand that in the timeline they were said in reverse. But I like how they did it chronologically.

There was a variant Walker in the first season. The dude's wife that was twisting the door handle trying to come into her house. She remembered where she lived and how to open a door and was even staring into the peephole knowing that somebody was looking at her

Idk if everyone missed it, but they were shot in the back of the head and still came back as a walker, making me think variants are much harder to kill. I think the variant walkers were people with a strong resolve or people who were skilled in something during life that translated into muscle memory. (I.e the walkers who can run and climb might have been body builders, retired soldiers, parkour enthusiasts, mountain climbing, gymnastics, climbed ladders for a living, etc.)
