Buying Used Snap On tools: Tips and recent scores that don't come up often.

When buying Used Snap On tools online, whether FB Marketplace, Craigslist, etc. here are some tips to consider. And here are a few of my recent scores that don't come up often.

One of the reasons we buy quality tools is they hold their value. Not that we should buy to resell, but making jumps to the next best thing is easier if you can get most of your money back on your previous choices. What do you think?

Where I used to live, there were these local tool swap meets 4 times a year... got loads of very good stuff there.

But once computers, Google eBay & Craigs List got going, prices shot up... and selection tanked. It's sad...

the most annoying thing to hear when selling is "what's the lowest you'd take" I'm not bidding against myself, give me an offer OR they give a lowball number and say "cash today right now"

I love used USA-made tools and Snap-on. USA Punches/chisels are $1 each at every estate/garage sale I go to. Snap-on Snap-on ratchet used...yes!

I have a Mac punch and chisel set like that but bigger. It also has a brass punch. Those are really nice to have around. I hate a pile of punch and chisels rolling around in a drawer. I just checked their site and they don't have this any more. It's over 40 years old.

The issue I have had with Snap On is, warranty. As a home owner, finding a truck, then asking for a warranty has been problematic. Many drivers/representatives are not willing to warranty a tool that they did not sell, leaving "you" with a broken tool with no to little recourse. To your point, taking "care" of your Snap On, guy is the key otherwise as a home owner I would shy away. Just opinion and observations.

I've been buying used tools for a long time but also buy new so I have no warranty problems

I normally buy snap on new. But I did get a very slightly used 1/2 locking flex head long ratchet(30”) long for 200.00.

Have you gotten the new wera tools yet?

Sucks when a full set by Tekton has a better warranty, higher tooth count and overall a stronger reversable spanner set at a fraction of the price. Taiwan is making the American made market burn.

Hello everyone! Great video, thanks Doc! This one comes in specially handy for me right now. I'm from the other side of the pond and I'm going to spend 6 months for training in San Francisco. I wanted to ask you/the fellas in the comment section, which networks you use to find tool deals? I'm gonna be looking for old tools, new tools...things that are difficult to come by in my hometown. So If any of you guys have any suggestions on where to get my stash of tools to bring back home, I would really appreciate it! :D

Maybe a little off topic, but in these parts a lot of bigger stuff has been turning up in the 'local' sources... tool boxes of every make, nice vises, anvils and you name it. They're always priced sky high, but the sellers are usually desperate. Keep an eye out, set up 'saved searches' on everything your interested in. You have nothing to lose!

Pawn shops are loaded up with the top 3 tool brands here in Florida, and they negotiate/trade. I've got some great deals

My Snap-on dealer is horrible at ordering tools or Having them in stock. I trust Ebay more than my Snap-on dealer.
