My dealer would have laughed and probably traded me a new one and kept this one as a collector piece

Our retired snap on guy would quickly give you one and add this one to his collection of vintage tools.

Here’s a tip:DONT WARRANTY TO SNAP ON TRUCK DEALERS! Been in aviation for a while. The guys in the truck are all about the money, (I know it’s obvious) they don’t like warranties because it doesn’t make them any money. The ones that are willing to help out are USUALLY the ones you buy from. If you buy a lot from them, they usually help. Me personally I don’t like to buy from the trucks because I can find it cheaper online. here’s what I did when I had a 1950-60s ratchet just like yours. I called snap on support, I told them I had a snap on ratchet that broke and belonged to my father, they told me to keep it and they sent me a brand new one. This truck guys are the worst way to try to claim the warranty and a waste of time usually. Try what I said, support don’t have an obligation to sell, only to help so you won’t get backlash like you got from this guy because he rather you buy it. Hope that helps. Nothing against these guys, they just trying to make a living.

Makes me miss the days of Craftsman at Sears. Walk in with broken tool, walk out with new one.

A lifetime warranty is a lifetime warranty.

Sir if that ratchet still worked....I'm sure its better quality than the one you traded for

That would be the last snap on tool I owned

Man, I would find broken wrenches or sockets back in the day. And sears would warranty them with no receipt. Craftsman of course

There's a clause that says original purchaser only... your snap on guy didn't seem very thrilled

Actually that ratchet can be repaired. It is also a military ratchet which was sold only through the industrial group with no warranty

Craftsman will warranty their stuff from the 50s because when they say lifetime warranty they mean lifetime warranty

The big issue is, the military was a massive source for sale of that ratchet, and there is no warranty for the military sold units.
I have one as well.

- Do you have a receipt?
- No, my grandpa lost it during Pearl Harbor bombing

that's stupid, my snap on guy will warranty anything he can get parts for or replace, I brought a old broken 3/8 ratchet from the 80s to him and he gave me a brand new dual 80 3/8s ratchet in exchange

Military snap on ratchets never had a warranty to begin with. You can tell its military by the V in the FV71 part number.

Snap on has lost it's reputation with me. I've spent thousands on their tools, and now that I'm retired, they refuse to warranty my broken tools. I tell everyone I can to NOT buy snap on tools.
