Anyone that holds and uses a snap on combination wrench, and can’t admit that it’s the most gorgeous, smooth, meant to be, tool they’ve ever used to pull on a bolt. Is LYING. Put a long handle combination in my hand and I’ll purposely take longer with no ratchet just to feel something nice for a few moments of a job. Smaller things in life that are the most fulfilling.

You could have been serious here and given actual reasons.

Like the fact that they're not always the best just because they cost the most.
The fact that they often charge outrages markups for their name on rebranded tools, like 150% more for a Vaughan hammer or almost 2x the cost for Malco eagle grip pliers.
The fact that the tool truck format doesn't exactly benefit one and balance out the high prices unless you're a pro at a shop who has a snapon account.
The fact that WRIGHT Grip 2.0 wrenches often out perform flank drive + at a fraction of the cost.
The fact that they sell a number of imported tools for American made tool truck prices.
Or how about there are just other manufacturers out there with good tools as well.

I have nothing against snapon tools, I just don't buy them often and there are actual reasons one might not want to buy them besides just price alone.

I am addicted to blue. Gedore blue.
I am addicted to yellow and red. VDE insulated Knipex yellow and red.
I am addicted to green an yellow. Proxxon Industrial green and yellow.
I like silver-matt. Fanar (tap and die) and VIS (callipers) silver-matt.
I like red. Milwaukee red.
I like yellow. Stanley yellow.
Dark green is fine. Stahlwille dark green.
All I wanted to say is that I do not get all this Snap-On worship. There are so many well recognized brands with excellent reputation outside the America. Why do you, the Americans, not check out if there is anything good outside your neighbourhood? There is so much good stuff outside of your box to be tried!

I could easily go with other brands for most things if I wanted. However, the feel and even the sound of a snap-on ratchet is just second to none in my opinion. When you're using something 70 hours a week you don't mind paying a little extra for a tool that feels most comfortable to you.

On my regular bike ride through my neighborhood in Hollywood, FL I see a Snap-on truck parked in a home's driveway. On occasion I see a fellow working on loading and unloading merchandise from his truck to his garage. After watching you're channel, the next time I see him I'm going to stop and introduce myself.

I did love this video for sure! It made me laugh with some of the reasons, and yeah, colours are drugs, a couple of weeks ago I went to buy some tools and there was a green pick set from snap on that caught my eyes like a moth to the light. I ended up buying it and using it the same day lol

Snap-On undeniably does make some very nice tools, but in my (non-professional but still fairly considerable) experience, they aren't substantively better than many other high-end brands. I own and use Wera screwdrivers and bit drivers, Knipex pliers, Ko-Ken socket ratchets, Bondhus hex keys, and original Britool ratchet wrenches, to give a few examples, which look and feel every bit as good as the Snap-On equivalents, and are for the most part a lot cheaper.

already addicted to Ko-ken stuff so can't do the Snap-on shuffles~snuffles with empty pockets. 😋

If you like the really high quality tools, maybe give "Stahlwille" a try. A bit pricey, but worth it.

Did you seriously just say one of the reasons NOT to Buy Snap On tools, is because of how GREAT a they actually are? -So don’t buy them because you’ll realize how shltty some other brands REALLY are (&now you know the quality you’re missing when u buy some Chinesium crap wrench set for $3 off Amazon) ?!?
Wha— 😳🤯

I love your channel. I can’t imagine how much tools you actually have. I thought I had a lot and many duplicate tools all over the place. I also love Montana.

Hey Doc, I noticed you are missing a green angle tip mini prybar on the table... I too, have that variant on backorder. 😂

I'm gently wading into the Snap-On world. Is the truck the only way to purchase? How do you find a truck if there isn't one at your workplace?

Two things Snap On did for me is start my impulse buying tool addiction, also, I purchased my first pair of Knipex Cobras off the truck.

You are so right Doc, I’m a self-confessed tool snob.
If I ever want to get a “Eye Roll” from my wife. I’ll look at her and say Honey you’re looking like you’re having a bad day. Would you like to hold my snap on ratchet?

Doc as always thanks for the video. This one got some laughs. Instead of just being a Debbie Downer you actually made valid points that weren't beating the brand down. I have the fear of buying their stuff, feeling how superior it is to my Tekton or Carlyle stuff and promptly adding more to my toolbox. Soon enough I'll be up to my eyeballs in debt and happy. See you in the next one friend.

I have some Snap-On tools and I'm completely ambivalent about them.

The breaker bar (flex head speeder) is nice because they're the only brand I'm aware of that produce one like it. But compared to any other speed handle or breaker bar from a reputable manufacturer it's no better or worse.

The ratcheting ring spanners and combination spanners are perfectly ok, but nothing to write home about.

If you look at Knipex pliers compared to Wiha, NWS, Irwin, Stanley, etc. the Knipex are a better product. I feel much more drawn to them, Wera screwdrivers, my Facom ratchet etc. than I do towards anything Snap-On.

They're in the "will happily use if they're there" camp rather than the "will fanatically seek out" camp.

Damn, Doc, I was thinking... I'll just buy one Snap-on ph2 screwdriver, to see if it is that good, seeing as it is the same price as the ten piece Milwaukee set. Lucky I saw this and didn't get dragged into this addiction. (Plus, they only have orange available at the moment, and I GOTTA HAVE RED!)
