This video shares Part 1 of Ditra-Heat Installation and shows how to install Ditra-Heat Mats, which also prevent tile floors from cracking over time.

Here are the supplies we used

-------------------------------------------------------

The first step is to read Schluter's Ditra-Heat manual to determine if your subfloor is properly installed.

Step two is to mix either modified thin-set mortar or Schluter's ALL-SET to a consistency that's recommended for Ditra-Heat.

Step three is to dampen the subfloor and burn the mortar into the subfloor using the flat side of a trowel. Then to directionally trowel the mortar such that all the trowel ridges face the same direction.

Step four us to compress Ditra Heat mats into the mortar and compress the trowel ridges by using a trowel or wood float over the top of the mat. Check coverage by pulling up one corner of the Ditra- Heat mat.

Watch our video for all the details on how to properly do a Ditra-Heat Installation

I can see where the Pre-Cut Ditra heat sheets would be very convenient for a small bathroom. Great video.

Great tutorial guys. Will be watching these one more time, before I do my bathroom this week. I liked the test for thinset coverage and advice on remixing. I bought the Schluter All Set thinset and will thoroughly read their instructions. I am hoping the waterproof mat will help keep water from reaching my mortar pan. Would it make sense to keep thinset away from the edges of the mat and apply a flexible latex caulk around the edges?

Another good tutorial, some good tips! I am actually going to start a basement job with a washroom and the client requested heated floor, and was wondering if ditra has any major competition in cost with quality in mind?

Love you guys! thank you! Do you have any instructional videos of applying ditra heat over a curbless shower? I'd like to use a Wedi system, or something similar, to create a curbless shower but also would like to heat the shower floor. Any ideas? thanks again

Good day to both of you . I would need help if possible . I put a SLC over my wood substrate . Primed it. It was naturally a disaster. I gringded/sand it . Naturally not flat but not bad. Question 1: could I use the modified thinset just to fill some of the gaps, leave it settle., then put my layer of thinset/Ditra heat? Question 2: do I need a primer to put over my SLC ??
