I feel like Schluter is taking notes from Simpson Strong-Tie. If you can convince enough people there’s a future disaster/problem, you can sell them expensive solutions for those problems. Especially if you condition your warranty by mandating “proprietary compatibility”.

At some point- you might as well put in an EPDM layer with flanged penetrations and gasketed doors.

Sutra is good, but you still need 2inches of solid subfloor most houses only have inch and a half, that's why we normally use half inch dura rock to gain a stiffer floor so the mortar doesn't crack

What is the use of this membrane ??
My tiles keep poping out after 1 or 2 years . Will this help the tiles stick to floor ??

If it's an extra step like this that may have just gotten added to the lineup. I would use it, going the extra yard as much as you can is better, so I appreciate that.

Pretty sure Schluter says to apply the primer to dry surface only. Looks like you wet the floor like one would for the thing set, but that shouldn’t be done for the primer.

I seriously need to ask a question that I know you most likely won’t answer. But did you and your ex partner split up due to the fact that he can’t keep anything clean. Whenever he works it looks like a thinset bomb went off everywhere. He must use an extra bag or two of thinset each job due to the mess.

I never understood the "dampen with a sponge" when it comes to subfloor or any of the cement boards. I understand why it must be done, it's the method that I find to be quite ineffective. I ditch the sponge method and put water in a spray bottle and mist it instead. Way more consistent and faster than using a sponge.

Toilet flange must be installed over and after the finished floor. Lots of people missing that
