I can only imagine the terror of sailing through a pitch black strait and the holders of the only pinpricks of light get gobbled up by some monster you can’t immediately discern.

Ody was a menace for this one, but after 10+ years and seeing my mom died not too long before this event, I probably would have done the same. And would have made sure Eurylochus got eaten.

I will never get over how poetic it is for Scylla to be calling out Odysseus for his secret plan, all the while his friend is apologizing for his own minor secret. I also really appreciate how this is the first time we have Eurylochus use the same line that Odysseus has constantly used as the reason for his own poor decision making of ‘I’m just a man’ but that’s one too many times for Odysseus to accept.

Odysseus chooses the option that guarantees majority survival instead of the chance that none would survive, even though there was a chance of 100% survival as well. He was still thinking of the crew as he handed the torches off, no doubt thinking of the families in Ithaca that wouldn't see their kin again.

Eurylochus is also thinking of the crew, but due to his loyal nature and the fact that these 41 (presumably still during Scylla and not counting Odysseus) men are all that remain of their original 600 causes him to become fiercely protective of them.

The only other person who could bave talked sense into Odysseus is Polites, but he's been gone for so long and after traveling through the Underworld his influence is gone and he's fully embraced what Eurylochus and Poseidon represent, caution and ruthlessness.

But in Mutiny Eurylochus is asking Odysseus to basically perform miracles by saying that he should have planned a way for the whole crew to survive, hypocritically, considering he was ready to abandon his scout party on Circe's island. "When we encountered the cyclops, it was you who had a plan, and when we fought with Circe it was you who left behind no man but-!/If you want all the power you must carry all the blame!" Yet they'd already be home if Eurlyochus had trusted his Captain in the first place. Now Odysseus isnt even sure if he can trust any of his crews since "Luck Runs Out" and the bag of winds because he knows they're losing faith, but no one else has the experience, intelligence, or pure will to do what Odysseus has done.

Also I didnt know that Odysseus first handed Eurylochus one of the torches, who ended up passing it to another trying to save someone. I think that definitely plays into Eurylochus' breaking point, because he definitely realised that it was the torches that lured Scylla's heads in.

I hope some of this made sense at least, im extremely tired and can barely keep track of what I'm already typing, much less trying to tie it in with other thoughts

im OBSESSED with how you drew Ody's expression all throughout the animatic!!! he BARELY reacted to Eury's betrayal with the bag of winds BUT YOU CAN TELL HE WAS STILL SET IN HIS PLAN, and him covering his ears during the attack was INSANE!!!!
