*Guided notes for these AP Chem videos are now included in the Ultimate Review Packet!* Find them at the start of each unit. All materials for Units 1 and 2 are included in the free trial!

In this video, Mr. Krug shows students how the VSEPR Theory applies to molecular compounds and helps explain why they take certain shapes. He shows students how to predict the molecular geometries and bond angles of multiple structures. At the end of the video, he shows how to predict the polarity of a molecule.

If anyone is watching these now, a week before the exam, it is important to note that despite having lone pairs, square planar molecules are NON-polar!

You know, I have been searching on YouTube for like a week to understand this concept rather than just catching it without any sense, but now I fully get and understand everything behind it. Thank you so much, sir!

How do I determine whether the molecule is lobsided or not? is it if the central atom has a lone pair?

what happens if there are 2 or more unshared pairs of electrons on the central molecule? how does that affect the polarity

Hi Mr Krug. Thanks so much for these amazing video!! your lessons are very helpful. I had one question about the angle for 3 sigma bonds and 2 lone pairs.. is it actually 120 ? or should it less than 90? Thank you

When drawing a Lewis diagram do we need to account for the molecular geometry??? If we don’t do we lose points on exams 😢

Do you have any suggestions to memorizing this?
