This is my unboxing of the Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG MACRO Lens I got right before the New Year. You can find it on Amazon for about 200 dollars and I will be doing a few tests while I'm out in Las Vegas for CES 2013.

Your remarks at the start of this video are a bit misleading I think. This lens DOES NOT HAVE image stabilisation. The APO stands for Apocromatic which is a coating on the lens which I believe helps reduce chromatic aberation, The DG simply means that it will work on Digital as well as film cameras.

If it's the same quality and functionality as the Tamron 70-300mm F4 Di (digital) LD (Low dispersion) Macro equivalent you'll have some issues with color fringing under high contrast, in the case of the tamron the fringing can get pretty extreme, also for pseudo macro work you'll get the same or better magnification from the Canon kit lens with a set of cheapo extension tubes (Kenko knock offs with contacts in them), only the focus distance will be much shorter on the kit lens with the tubes on

Apo doesn't mean that it focuses better quicker or faster and just that it reduces chromatic aberration
