In this video I provide an update on the situation in CUBA. Cuba is in a state of ECONOMIC COLLAPSE and cannot afford to buy enough fuel to keep the country's lights on. No electricity means that businesses, schools and the healthcare system will not be able to open and that is only going to make the situation worse. At the start of January there was hope for Cuba as Joe Biden removed Cuba from the list of Sponsors or Terrorist Activity and this was seen as being the first step to improving trade relations with the USA however it now looks like Donald Trump has other ideas which is not good for Cuba or its Economy.

Cuba has been collapsing every week now.

Actually, Cuba has been in an economic collapse since private property was confiscated in the 1960's. I know that because, unfortunately, I was born and grew up there.
Cuba does not have a constitution that allows citizens to bear arms.

Barak Obama once tried to improve relations with Cuba. The Cubans allowed the USA to open a Special Interests Section office in Havana. However, US officials at the office began experiencing strange symptoms which included hearing loss, memory loss, and nausea. X-rays revealed brain damage in some. This phenomenon came to be called Havana Syndrome and started to occur in many other communist countries where American diplomatic personel were stationed. An ultrasonic or microwave weapon was suspected to be the cause. Canadian officials also experienced similar attacks. It's hard to establish normal diplomatic relations with countries that target foreign diplomatic personnel.

I am over 60. In none of these years has Cuba recovered to be able to collapse.

Get rid of the Cuban Criminal Party, for starters.

My friend went to Cuba a few years back, she took a chocolate rabbit (cost £1) & gave it to the lady who had cleaned their room. The cleaner was so pleased she burst into tears, they just can't get stuff like that over there. Depressing what governments do to their own people.

Castro took everything from my wife's family. Their government can rot. Maybe the people will get tired enough someday and do something about it.

My mom and brother visited Cuba A couple years back. They showed me pictures of all these once beautiful old Spanish buildings in Havana and they were all now just rotting. That was kind of indicative of the rest of the country. The people were very nice but very apathetic and seemed to have little hope anything would change.

The Cuban government will never admit that their economy is a total failure, plus the Cuban population in Miami support the island and if it wasn’t for that it would have failed already!

One reason why Trump isn't removing sanctions is the Cuban community in South Florida, called the Miami Cubans, would be up in arms about normalizing relations with Cuba. Many of these Miami Cubs or their parents owned property which was confiscated by the Cuban government. What would happen to that property is up in the air with the Cuban government saying on thing and the Miami Cubans wanting something completely different. The Miami Cubans tend to be Republicans and Trump doesn't want to lose their support.

Really good video. I have been sending money to my parents for 30 years. I did not think the number was so high from the US. There are many Cubans in other countries, so the incoming budget is definitely higher than 5B. The bad news is that no matter how much more money the Cuban government gets, the people are living worse every day.

I'm starting to feel like this "Communist Utopia" thing just isn't possible.
Really makes ya think.

Countries without financial integrity, like Russia, North Korea, Iran, and Cuba default to primitive barter for imports and exports, indirectly using stable western currencies to benchmark the exchange value. For example, Russia sells oil and gas to China and India using dollar valuation despite payment in Yuan, Rupees, or other currencies. None of Cuba's current 'benefactors' are solvent enough to ship oil, gas, and food to Cuba on promissory notes or long term 'forgivable' loans. Bad debt write-offs are the legacy of marxist-communist regimes. Nothing short of a total collapse of the Castro regime will allow the Cubans to regain control over their country. Softening sanctions is like putting the '26 de Julio - Castro hooligans' on life support without restoring the nation. A total collapse, like Assad's regime in Syria, is essential to re-set Cuba as a legitimate western nation, free from their marxist-mafia.

Cuba’s problem is dictatorship, not the economic policies of the US.

It's a shame Castro pulled that switcheroo and totally screwed his country and people. I imagine they would be in a lot better shape today if that hadn't occurred. I would love to see relations normalize between them and the U.S., but I believe they would have to throw out their current form of government for that to happen.

My mother Jennie (1916-2021) took a trip to Cuba in 1936. It was her first trip outside of Canada and USA. She had to travel through the Panama canal to get there. She also returned there in the 1970s, and found the situation very different, unsurprisingly.

Raúl is the last icon holding the revolution together. There's hope that once he croaks the government can move forward.
