“BuT ShE HaS BoTh GeNdErS InSiDe hEr HeAd” this movie was made 9 YEARS AGO they weren’t thinking about Riley being gay or something. The reason she has both gender inside her head is so that the little kids that watched the movie could feel identified and that they weren’t alone, not only girls. And worrying about a fictional characters gender or sexual orientation is definitely a first world problem, there are bigger things to worry about. STOP THIS MADNESS 😭😭.

The fact that grown "adults" are obsessed with the sexuality of a fictional child is a big RED FLAG

Wait until you see what people have said about her sexuality just because she plays hockey

As a 14 yo bi girl who enjoys queer media, saying a character is queer because of a red streak in their hair is actually crazy. 💀

as a queer person, i also agree that its kinda weird that people are making assumptions about a kid's sexuality because of her looks and hobbies

Riley: *Has a mixture of boy and girl emotions*
Fandom: SHE'S BISEXUAL!
Disney: No, she's straight
Riley: *Has a crush on multiple men and seemingly men only*
Fandom: *Ignores it*
Riley: Admires a girl 3 years older than her
Fandom: SHE'S GAY!
Disney: No she's straight
Riley: *Has a crush on a male video game character and a Mount Rushmore of her boyfriend and other men she likes and there's a deleted scene where she holds her hand with her boyfriend*
Fandom: *Ignores it*
Riley: *Gives herself a red streak in her hair*
Fandom: SHE'S SO GAY LIKE THAT IS UNDENIABLE EVIDENCE THAT SHE'S GAY AND YOU CAN'T TELL ME OTHERWISE
Disney: *Visible confusion*

The fact that grown ass adults are so invested in a teenage movie character’s sexuality based on a singular red streak in her hair is absolutely crazy. Society is going downhill faster than Sony losing money from Madame Web

I am so glad that this is just an actual criticism of the post and not some "BASED SIGMA ANTI GAY ALPHA MALE" type video

Comes from the same people who assumed that Gwen was trans because of the colors in her costume🙄

and im saying this, even IF she was queer... it wouldn't be the main point of the movie. It would still be about her dealing with new emotions now that she is 13 and is entering a era of her life and has to deal with new emotions after already having dealt with her original emotions and how to handle them. SHE IS GROWING UP.

attempting to figure out a fictional girl's sexuality based on their hair style and the fact she admires a girl slightly AND completely ignoring the fact she has many crushes on boys and seemingly only boys is INSANEEEE

I’ve seen Disney movies and shorts with queer people in it and it was INSANELY obvious that they were gay, lesbian, etc. it’s insane that Riley can admire an older girl because she thinks she’s cool, and get some red in her hair and all of a sudden they all think she’s queer 💀

Aside from how weird it is to care about an animated 13-year-old’s sexuality, it’s not uncommon for any teenage girl to dye their hair, regardless of sexuality, and as brought up, the context of the movie literally shows that it’s just trying to fit in.

Even if she was gay, Disney would never allow it to be full on shown, I think we all know about the Owl House cancellation garbage they pulled over a gay kiss. So, why are people acting like this is something new with Disney? Disney has always added random background shit that hinted at a character being gay, or bi. But, there’s never a hint that Riley liked a female.

The biggest thing i hate about being in fandoms nowadays is how no character is allowed to have platonic relationships with anyone anymore. Like, Riley and Val are clearly just good friends, yet these degenerate adults online have to sexualize them together and force them into a strange ship?? It happens in every fandom I've been a part of, especially to characters who have a close bond that is entirely non-romantic. The most frustrating part is that a lot of movies, shows, books, etc. use relationship dynamics to expand upon and build the stories they're telling, like Samwise and Frodo in LOTR. But the then fans come along and say screw it, these two characters who care about and love each other in a platonic way shall be forced into a lover's arc together because GAY. it's so so stupid and i despise it.
