This is so true. Not only at home. Also, in public. If you hear an unfamiliar voice calling your name, never answer it back or look back. It's Death.

Hey guys, if you are home alone and you end up hearing your name being called, don't be frightened.Hearing your own name being called is the most common of auditory hallucinations, auditory hallucinations are not harmful or dangerous so if you hear you own name, no need to panic 😊

I heard my own voice scream for my mother years ago after about a week of her saying she could hear me screaming for her while I was at school 😐 it stopped after I heard it, never happened again. But that was one of the most deeply unsettling things I've ever heard, I still remember it so clearly. And people reckon the spiders are the scariest part of the Aussie bush 😂

I once was leaving work, I heard my name clearly said behind me. The voice was the voice of my husband's mother. I got excited then I remembered she died like 4 months before that and died in a location 8 hours from where we lived and that she was never in the location we were living in. I cannot tell you how fast I ran to my car after exiting that building and locking myself in my car. 😅

I’ve heard my mother call my name when I was getting on a school bus when she had died a few weeks prior. It was so real that I ran back to the front of the bus asking the bus driver who was calling my name. She said nobody and no other adults were there. Then another time I was working a closing shift at a dollar general as the manager. We had cameras in the store room in the back and I could see the guy I was closing with walk towards the doors to come back out onto the floor and then stop and step back to look across the room and then I watched him hurry out of there and a couple seconds later he was in the office with me telling me he just heard a middle aged woman call my name in the back room. He was white as a ghost and he said he literally stepped back about to tell whoever it was that we were closed and they couldn’t be back there and that they had to leave, but nobody was there. I’ve also been woken up by my Dad calling my name when he was asleep himself.

As a little kid growing up I’d hear “help me!” Or my full name being said at odd hours of the early morning. And it sounded exactly like my mom. Every time I went to check on my mom she’d just look really confused saying she didn’t say anything and tell me to go back to bed.

Apparently according to a woman I saw on Facebook reels this is super common in the Appalachian mountains. She went on to say don't look in the tree line, open a door at night if you aren't expecting company, don't whistle in the woods.

This happened to me last night at work. I work overnights in a nursing home, and I always take a nap on my break. I was the only caregiver working the floor and the nurse told me to go ahead and take an hour nap, she would look after the residents. I went to one of the couches and pretty much immediately fell asleep. I can’t really accurately put into words what I felt I experienced. I had a dream that was sleeping, and for some reason I just felt like someone was standing over me watching me. I remember feeling petrified. The next thing I heard was my own voice saying “Katie!” Instantly I was jolted awake and I was cold sweating and my heart was pounding. To make matters worse, I had just assumed that the nurse said my name and was waking me up. I was alone in the living room, the lights were off. I called out for the nurse, but when she didn’t answer I got chills. I felt an awful pang of fear, and immediately went from room to room checking to make sure all of my residents were ok. The whole time I felt like I wasn’t alone. Eventually I found the nurse, she told me she actually fell asleep in her office but she woke up to this feeling that something was wrong. She felt like someone was watching her sleep. so she just walked the floors to make sure no one came in from outside and that all the doors were locked. Weird coincidence.

Brain glitches that result in auditory hallucinations are wild! I've had family say my name right behind me when I was the only one home.
