MAZDA HAVE TAKEN THEIR SWEET TIME UPDATING THE MAZDA 3!!

Today we are reviewing the mid-life update - AKA Facelifted - 2024 Mazda 3, which brings a decent chunk of new changes to the model line-up to help keep it in the fight for best small hatchback (or optional Sedan). But with Mazda's focus on their Large Product Platform, seeing the likes of the CX-90 and CX-60, it's clear that Mazda have updated the Mazda 3 just enough. Is that enough to make it king? Let's talk about that in today's review!

We give every car "the sauce", test their 0-100km/h, and see whether or not they are worth purchasing and spending your hard-earned cash on.

From time to time, we'll also buy a weird and wacky car and take you on the journey with me!

We release videos every Sunday 5pm AEST / AEDT with the latest new car reviews! Your feedback is important, so if you want to see us do something new or something you would like me to change let me know!

The Mazda 3 is one of the most beautiful designed cars in that category on the road.

I have a gorgeous 2019 Mazda 3 premium with maroon red leather interior. 2.5 litre. Drives like a dream. 30, 000 miles and zero rattles or squeaks. No issues.

Mazda 3, CX-30 and CX-60 are some of the most delicately designed cars on the market. Absolutely beautiful.

I’m so enchanted by this car design. My favourite of almost all cars.

I recently bought a demo model Mazda 3 Evolve with the 2.5 litre engine. It has a few quirks that have needled me a bit (the radio switches on whenever you turnover the engine and that can't be stopped and the I-stop system will sometimes not stop the engine for some reason) but overall I just LOVE it! It goes like a cut snake, especially in sport mode. The warning systems are not too intrusive (but the reverse sensors and cross traffic alert system are not quite as good as the ones on my VF Commodore) and the car is comfortable. Being naturally aspirated you need to keep revs high to go quickly in the car but that's not hard as the engine likes to rev. For those dropping down to a four from a straight or V6 the power delivery is not as slippery smooth and effortless but, jeeze, it's a lot of fun! It's also a stylish buggy, for sure and that "soul crystal red" colour is sublime (my car is the same colour). I don't have kids now so the back seat tightness is not an issue for me. The rear vision is not great but, hey, the car is a real head turner. The only other niggle is that silly system which tilts the driver side mirror down when you reverse...I don't like it but I am now used to it. Word of warning to all. If you only drive sporadically and leave the car unused for a couple of weeks you will find that the I-stop may not work unless you go for, at least, a half hour drive. The car uses a lot of battery power and it the power level is a bit down I-stop becomes a little cantankerous. Many people dislike I-stop systems so if you are one of those it won't bother you (to prevent I-stop you have to switch off when you first start the car but it will turn on again at the next start). Also beware that when it comes time to change the battery the stop-start batteries for these sorts of cars are pricier than your average high crank battery.

As to you two blokes. You are a breath of fresh air in the car reviewing space. I love your antics, your obviously strong friendship and your honesty. I look forward to every new video you post. As an old fart, I find them enormously entertaining. If I owned a tv network I'd be hiring you for a car show like "Aussie Top Gear." I would, however, call it "Two Blokes and a Car." Best wishes to you both. You make an old man happy. :)

Such an underrated car and I wish Mazda would have much more success with it sales-wise. I would get this over the VAG cars in same segment - always.

My mazda6 2014 has rain sensing wipers, radar cruise, blindspot monitoring, heated seats, 2 person memory seats. Really great deal for back then.

I don't think you can say RIP to the Toyota Corolla. There's lots of people in the world who like vanilla ice cream

Bought one in September 2023, love it. Plus it's stunning to look at. It's not just a pretty face though, it can shift a bit too. Highly recommended.

Still loving my 23 3 Premium Plus! It's my 3rd 3! After the Original Model, then the Speed 3 and now my current one!

Funny dudes. Good reviews. Pleas don't lose the humour down the track. I also suggest having more than one perspective about cars. 95% of reviewers are car nuts have that sporty dynamic handling perspective but customers vary widely in their priorities. Some people prefer softer suspension for daily commutes or have small families and want a gentler ride. That's my 2 cents.

The Cylinder Deactivation in the 2.5L Mazda 3 Skyactive G engine actually cuts off cylinders 1 and 4 at moderate deceleration and at full deceleration it can cut off all 4 cylinders. Which you can monitor as it happens in the Infotainment System. Average MPG 28 / KPG 45.

I have a 2023 mazda 3. Glad they fixed the location of the wireless charger. I ended up wiring my own fast charge wireless pad in the same spot

I remember when the Mazda 3 was topping that segment in Australia for a brief while.

I have the evolve g20 sedan. Deep crystal blue. The interior is gorgeous and a treat to sit in every time. The chassis balance is excellent and the looks garner praise everywhere i go. Has vision tech pack and Mazda floor mats. Got it second hand May this year and love every minute of it

Looks and feels premium, drives great too. Unfortunately the tight rear seats and the tiny boot kill it for me.
