If that 2.5 turbo came with a manual, it would be a killer hot hatch. Edit: people keep responding that it has a manual. The turbo engine and a manual transmission are not packaged together. The manual is only an option with the non-turbo engine.

I just rented a regular Mazda 3 (meaning not the hatchback version) and I was highly impressed. It was unexpected how good it was. The easy to control screen was awesome. The handling.. the automatic high beams.. the stay in lane feature and so so on… I’d actually buy one..

Most things you mentioned are standard on my 2012 Mazdaspeed. The reason why this one is extra premium, is mostly because of the interior presentation, which you didn't talk about. The fluid and clean design, leather trim everywhere, soundproofing material in the doors, soft touch plastic, the new Bose sound system with speakers under the dashboard. Even all the physical buttons (hvac, radio controls) have engineering behind them to make them feel mechanic and high quality.

I recently went to test drive the new A3, then a CLA and last but not least a Mazda 3 2.5t. For the money I don't think you can buy a better AWD compact that's better than the Mazda
