If you rev it to 2500 rpm before launch it would lower the time it takes. Some reviewers have gotten around 5.6/5.7 seconds. There are however many variables so who knows! lol

The sound and grumble of the engine/turbo is just beautiful!!! I could listen to it all day long

Mazda is not currently a performance enthusiast brand, but Mazda fans are building a small yet highly dedicated aftermarket performance community. There’s potential in these engines, it’s just that Mazda was extremely conservative with the factory engine tune; it really needs an engine computer reflash in order to perform more like what you’d expect with 250HP & 320TQ.

Very consistent zero to sixty. The “ launch control” is 320 pound feet of torque, AWD and time proven 6 speed automatic transmission.

Stunning car, awd and awesome ext/int design

Two observations that affect the time. First, you didn't do brake-torque launch. Second, either you let go of the gas in shifting even in automatic mode cause it was shifting at about 5, 500 rpm instead of redline at 6, 500 rpm. Using the manual mode in auto mode, you can control the rpm. Had you done these, the 0-60 would be less than 6 seconds, somewhere between 5.5 and 6.0 seconds for sure.

Dude that's the slowest reaction from a car I have ever seen

That lag in the throttle would drive me nuts.

At Beyond our 0-60’s are for general comparison to other vehicles in real world conditions and not necessarily for the absolute fastest time.

Brake boost if you're going to launch.

But if this is a supposed casual launch, then at least traction control needs to be off, sports mode on, 93 octane in the tank. I did hear you say you had sports mode on, but that won't do much alone. Was getting 5s every time when mine was stock.

Its still sad that Mazda hasn't include launch mode with their Turbo.

Sport mode doesn’t make a difference if you are just stomping on the gas. It literally just raises your idle rpm a little higher than normal so you feel like your car is faster but it’s literally the same .

(1) Put it into Sport Mode, (2)turn off TSC, (3)do a little brake boosting launch control (~1, 500RPM), (4)keep your foot to the floor, and (5) shift at 5, 000RPM (this engine doesn’t make any power past that). Next time you get your hands on one, try it out.

you need to turn off traction control and brake boost, also the auto transmission sucks on 1st to 2nd for whatever reason so its faster to use the paddles, I've managed to get to a 5.5 on stock tires

Sounds amazing! Was that with premium fuel?

if you shift in manual it's a lot quicker shifting too

Would it still be reliable if someone were to put a bigger turbo than the stock one?
