Total bogus clarification. He says let's not be like Australia where locals there cannot answer the question, what's the language of your country. No idiot has to think to answer this qstn in India. The answer is simple. We proudly said, India has hundreds of languages, that's how diverse my country is and my language is proudly one of the oldest languages of the world, Kannada that has a history of more than 2500 years. My answer will be this. Why should I think and not have an answer for that qstn? Or why the hell should I learn Hindi to say my country's lang is Hindi? For me it's Kannada, for people in Gujarat it's Gujarathi, for TN it's Tamil, for telugu states it is telugu, for kerala its Malayalam, for people in Maharashtra, its Marathi, for people in Bengal it's Bengali. So what's the issue? INDIA is a diverse country. We have so many cultures and languages and we are all okay with it and proud of it. That's what makes India a diverse country. I don't need to learn Hindi to tell others my country's lang is Hindi. Hindi is one of the languages. Not the only language.

Opposition parties have distorted his statement. He was speaking on Hindi diwas and in the flow he asked for common language. His stance was no where against other languages. He is just asking if you could use Hindi as 2nd language. This is not bold or threatening statement. I feel pity for Indian youth who misjudged him.

It keeps the attention diverted from falling values of Rupee, economic slowdown and also stirs the sentiments of our normally peaceful South India. Why end this controversy so soon? Why are you telling us to learn? The fact that you feel the need for us to learn it's sad. I know Hindi very well but if someone directs or forces me to learn it- I will BOYCOTT HINDI! You can also tell in your speeches to learn other languages but why focus on Hindi? Why not promote the usage of other Indian languages like Marathi, Bangla, Telugu etc. In Delhi. Delhi is a Cosmopolitan place, so let's have all announcements etc in all the Indian languages.
