So happy they deleted that. Dave doesn't sound drunk, he sounds like he is 4.

At least we know what became of Dave in later years. After controlling his intake on alcohol, he moved out of Hill Valley, and changed his name. Then in 1990s, he joined forces with Harry Lime to rob houses. It was then that he was finally thwarted by the clever kid-genius, Kevin McCallister.

A shame Marty's siblings were barely in the sequels. Marty's dad had more screen time, and he wasn't even played by Crispin Glover in 2 and 3.

They cut the scene because Linda (the sister) couldn't appear for the movie.  The production figured if Dave was in the scene, everyone would wonder where Linda was.

I think he was trying to play up the long term effects of alcoholism, Dave almost seems like he has suffered a stroke or some other kind of brain damage.

This scene was depicted in the book, as someone before said, alot of the deleted scenes in II and III were in the books. Always wondered why it wasn't the same way in the movie. He runs into Dave instead of Red, the town drunk.
