Jerry Ferguson in Arizona's Family newschopper spotted the incredible streak of light shortly before 6:30 p.m. Arizona's Family quickly learned that it was a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that had launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California to deploy Iridium satellites.

I've seen a lot a lot of things in our beautiful Arizona sky I try not to trip, but the ability to see this in zoom is quite interesting and offers a much different perspective.

As an eye witness that night, I still want to know why the exhaust trail itself was emitting light and not from the bright spot light either. I saw the cloud just glowing from within itself and that’s what I thought was so strange, not the “projectile” part but the trail behind it.

Its a rocket launch. The exhaust plume is above the earth's shadow, so it is visible. Looks like you caught a staging event, too. Jerry

I saw this same launch from my vantage point at Venice Beach, California. It was spectacular. The colors were amazing and the first stage rocket coming down was something I had never seen before.

We were vacationing in Yuma Arizona and were stunned to see it in the western night sky. It was huge and everyone was amazed and mesmerized by it.

I’ve lived 43miles West of Cape Canaveral for the past 46yrs and I have witnessed at least 100 Rocket & Shuttle Launches over the years and I’ve been as close as 4miles away when they launch. The the Night launches are spectacular, but you never see them go straight up. They often immediately roll and start their climb almost down to a 45degree angel it seems. The 1986 Shuttle explosion was unfortunately the most memorable. Also, when the shuttles would come back to land, the Sonic Boom would shake our whole house!

SpaceX Falcon 9, the little puffs you see from the lower portion are the cold gas thrusters on the Falcon 1st stage. This 1st stage was not recovered but they did guide it back to earth for a soft landing in the ocean. Spectacular footage, this has got to be the most beautiful exhaust launch footage I have ever seen!
