It will be re-branded as USB 3.1c revision 2L-4

1:10 How did they manage to make such a horrible mess? "Old name", "New name", what the hell? What kind of idiot approved that?

We are even not getting USB c on all devices and we are talking about USB 4

Rj-45 Ethernet connector for me. Brings me back to my early days of hand splicing connectors for computers in schools. That satisfying clicky sound and seeing the activity LEDs going.

My favorite connector is the 110 outlet. Hasn’t changed once in my entire life. Expect USB4 to be obsolete in a few years.

USB-C is my favorite connector. I love the fact that it's reversible. Its small size makes one port type work on many difference of size devices. It's much more durable than ports like micro USB. It's such a versatile Port where it can be used for so many different things, I can't wait to see laptops that have 4 to 6 USB-C Thunderbolt ports on them and nothing else, so you can use those for ports for whatever you want... charge, transfer data, drive 4 external displays. When you have four ports on your laptop and they're all different types you are limited what you can do what those four ports.

But my biggest problem with USB-C is their implementation of the c to c cable spec... every C to C cable should be exactly the same. It's hard enough for consumers to understand the differences in the USB-C ports on their devices, but they also have to understand that there are different types of USB C to C cables... some are just data cables and some support Thunderbolt and DisplayPort alt mode. It is an absolute frustrating mess for most consumers. Then us in IT or tech savvy people have to try to explain this mess to our friends, family, coworkers, or customers.

I'm geeking out *so hard* right now because it finally sounds like USB4 is going to fix a lot of the issues that the original USB-C launch was plagued with. That being said, I've been all in with USB-C since it was announced; it's so great to have both my laptops, my phone, my earbuds, and my powerbank all use the same cable. Can't wait for more manufacturers to get on board with USB4 utilizing the USB-C shape!

My favorite connector was Magsafe 2.0. It saved my Macbook Air a couple times when classmates tripped over it. Really wish Apple didn't kill it off, but I'm still rockin it.

RCA connectors are pretty amazing. Been around since the 1940's and are still being used today on brand new electronics. Universal, ubiquitous, color coded, reversible, and capable of everything from analog audio to digital video and even electrical power delivery.

The obsolete Optical Toslink is my favorite cable for audio. I've been using it since 1995 to record CDs to minidisc.

Wouldn’t life be so much easier is every single device took just one design of cable 🤔

Can we just stop on USB-3 for a moment? This “Universal” serial bus is so NOT “universal”, it’s getting ridiculous.

Question. What is the difference between USB4 and Thunderbolt? They sound very similar, minus branding/royalty fees for “Thunderbolt”

Sounds like a rebranding of thunderbolt 3.

USB4’s first anniversary was yesterday. It’s been a full year since it launched, and we still don’t have a single USB4 device...

Favourite connector (4:03)? I liked how the VGA ports came with screws for an extra secure fit.

If you tripped up over anything though, the whole device or port housing came along.

The NES controller connector was the first connector I used. Better design than USB type A!
