This video is made like a travel show of the drive from Alaska to Washington down the Alcan highway.

2500 miles from Homer, Alaska to Seattle Washington via Whitehorse and Watson Lake down the Casiar route with a detour to Liard hotsprings.

ATTENTION VIEWERS : It needs repeating that the Alaska Highway (or Al-Can ) does not go to or near Homer Ak or Washington state. The Alaska Highway starts in Dawson Creek British Columbia and terminates in Delta Jct. Ak, Period. It is disingenuous at best if not down right deceptive for one to say otherwise when one has been informed of the facts. No part of the Alaska Highway is " near the arctic circle " . Leaving your man made shit, literal and figurative, in UNACCEPTABLE . It take many many years for even organic material to decompose in the north. Drive the Highway, as a bicycle tour guide i have led many trips up the road, it is incredible. If you are truly interested in learning about it then you need to look elsewhere for some facts. DRIVE IT, BIKE IT. EXPERIENCE IT.

I like the it was a bit
- dramatic (bear never seen a car before?)
- innacurate (Alcan goes from dawson creek to delta junction, I think)
- watson lake has the Alcan coming from the east and west, cassiar from the south, campbell from the north
- drove 150 miles out of your way to get to Liard? It's right ON the AlCan dude....and it's a really cool stop.
And litter !!
Having said drove this in 2012. I've been all over North America and this is by far my #1 road trip ever.
Hope to do it again soon.

You say Wrangells Mountains, but that’s the Chugach Range and Matanuska Glacier.

Great video I really enjoyed the scenery. Ivan is right the Alcan does not start in Homer. The Cassier Highway is more scenic that is correct.

I plan on doing this. I would be heading north from Washington, up to Alaska. Do I need a passport? I just have a new Jersey drivers license.

Thank you for the video. We are planning a trip to the lower 48 from Anchorage. I do have one question... did you have a good choice of gas station. Along the Alaska highway... and how far are they apart. Thanks.

In March 8, 1942, Leonard Larkins and around 4, 000 black American soldiers participated and built the highway acrossed Alaska 🇺🇸 to Canada 🇨🇦 during World War 2.

So did you grab the stuff you left behind and dispose of it? Or did you leave it there?

It’s no longer called the Alcan, simply the Alaska Highway.

It appears a pickup truck worked well as a vehicle. Any troubles or breakdowns? Challenges? What year, make and model?

Many people are more interested in the road conditions not the scenery
