Autodesk Maya 2018 - Stylized fan Modeling and Texturing Timelapse

This video shows a timelapse video on how to model a simple Stylized Electric Fan. Autodesk maya was used to model and Substance Painter for texturing. It took about 45 minutes to make the whole thing.

W- move
E- rotate
R- scale
G- repeat last command
q - exit tool
b- soft selection
shift + . - grow selection
alt + b - change background color
f - fit to selection
ctrl + a - open attribute editor/channel box
ctrl + delete - deletes an edge loop( 2014 version and up only)
1 - standard mode
2- subdivision mode with cage
3- subdivision mode
4- wireframe
5 - shaded mode
6- texture mode

How does he obtain the the edge cuts at 0:44? In my case it only deletes the edges, it does not connect the bottom two vertex

The first fan I ever made was so difficult because of the cover "grate", if you will. I did the same thing, but II never considered beveling the edges, and I was left with tapered shapes. Wish I had seen this sooner haha! Also, love the music in your vids, always reminded me of FF9

This video taught me that I always overcomplicate things. It's not good at all. For this part here 2:17, I would've used curves, nurbs extrusion and conversion. Such a trip for something a little bevel can manage. I really need to change my approach. Thanks.

stupid question (maybe) but how do you manage to import this mesh and work in substance painter while you clearly didn't unwrap anything ? Painter does not support mesh without proper UV, does it ?

Hello! Can you explaine, please, on which stage you did UV? On low poly model and then duplicated it with UV for further modeling?
