I had my 8 chicks in a 125 gallon tote with a lid and rabbit fencing cut to fit and attached. I had to double it because one flew out and was sitting next to the heating lamp. But once they outgrew that container I moved them to a popup small animal playpen. It's working great. But there's at least two who are constantly looking for a way out. But they're growing fast and needed more space. They're enjoying the room. And 😂😂 with the Cougar to feed.

Getting baby chicks for the first time in 10 years. It was so nice to have such a comprehensive refresher! One of the best put together videos I've seen! Thanks a lot!

Thanks. Great timing as I ordered baby chicks & they will be shipped in August. Plenty of time to be thoroughly prepared. TY

I appreciate a video about farming/home steading that is just educational that isn't full of snide bigoted comments .. makes it so nice to watch i just went threw like 5 videos and each dude talking made ridiculous hateful political comments it's exaughsting. I wanna learn about farming and home steading not personal views.

We’re on day 14 of incubating. Got the coop built yesterday & I’ll be setting up the brooder box sometime this week. Gotta run to the store for some bedding. Loving your videos. Feeling very prepared for chickens. New to the channel. Have you always been a chicken channel?

Are you using a brooder heater and the heat lamp?

For bedding every expert (degree holding) has said to use cotton seed hulls, and to avoid chips or shavings.

Only thing I'd add is to check the date on the electrolytes as my local TS has them but they are over 1year out of date 😬

I have puppy pads, is that an ok alternative to the paper towels? Seems like it should be but I don't want to be wrong! Thanks!

What about the pine cat litter? It absorbs & leaves the litter feeling dry & makes for great compost..
