First time mama here with a 2 week old, and I just wanted to say that all of you are doing great and the fact that you’re watching this video proves that! Try everything you can until something works, and if that changes, just try something else until that works too!

PLEASE remember to take care of YOUR needs as often as possible. If there are dishes in the sink but you can sneak in a 20 minute nap while your baby sleeps, please do that! Take a hot shower, massage your feet, lay in silence, listen to music… come back to a place of neutrality and peace within yourself. We will never get these moments back and the next chapters will always have their adjustments.

Trust yourself and great advice like this video. You are doing great!!

Thanks for sharing!
Off topic… your monstera looks like it needs more light and less water. Try moving her to a slightly sunnier spot (nothing too direct) and waiting a bit longer between waterings. 😊

Can we talk about the fact that those 45 minutes they’re up literally is feeding, changing, and burping them 😂

Learning about active sleep versus deep sleep changed how well my son slept. I used to run to hold him as soon as he made any noise at all. Now I give it a minute to see if he's actually waking up. He is a much happier baby lately.

My wife just asked me to search for this topic and this is just posted. How timely. I think we're making just about all of the new parent mistakes mentioned in this video. 🙃

First time dad here…Such a great video! For me, I dont use a white noise or anything while baby sleeps so I can hear baby breathing. Granted, I am always quiet when baby sleeps. This may not be the case for everyone. But great tips!!!

Thanks for the video, unfortunately some of the these points including the ‘tiredness’ phase’ or tiredness signs stuff doesn’t really resolve a lot of the issues we’re facing. They also seem to conflict with advice around babies hungry signs. We recognise yawns, playing with ears and rubbing eyes etc as signs of tiredness, that and being super quiet and disinterested, but as soon as we put him down and within 2-5 mins later he’s fussy again. We let him wriggle around in the hope he’ll drop off to sleep, but he gets himself into such a tizzy. The cycle repeats

Im literally watching this at 2am in the morning after our 5 day old first time child has kept us up every night since last week. I have been making all of these mistakes, but got to try your solutions on her this morning and they instantly worked. I really can't thank you enough, from the bottom of my heart.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. My only observation is I kept hearing you say to put them down to sleep. What about the ones that refused to be put down to sleep when in fact you know they are tired?

This! Thank you! I thought I was crazy because I hear other moms talk about a 7/8pm bedtime and my son won't go to bed until 11/11:30pm, then he gives me a 4.5-5 hour stretch! So happy to hear this is normal.

I guess I'm doing something right. My 15 week old has been sleeping through the night, for the most part. We get ready and are in bed around 10:30. The earliest he wakes is 6 but often doesn't wake until 7 or 8. He has very clear sleep cues and he goes for naps in his crib, in close to the same environment as at night. It's very dark and we have an air purifier that makes great white noise. I got very lucky, he's such a good sleeper!

i wish i found you earlier but we figured out a lot of this through trial and error and reading over the last few months.

My 1st child I did so many of these mistakes. She was horrible at sleeping and I was extremely sleep deprived. My 2nd baby I have avoided almost all of these. And he is 100% better of a sleeper! These are life saving tips.

I was definitely guilty of these mistakes and I didn’t realize until my baby was a few months old 🤦🏻‍♀️

Your video is really helpful. Would you do one video about the sleep cycle of babies who are 6-12 mths? My son is 8 mo old, would love some sleeping tips.

Sleep was the most challenging part of becoming a new parent :)

Agree with all of these except the last one. My baby consistently has gone to bed for the night between 6.30 and 7.30 and wakes up for the day around 7 the next morning. She is 6weeks

Ok but what if every time you put your baby down to sleep, they sleep for 5 min and wake up screaming that we aren’t holding them? You didn’t really address that

Some of these vary from baby to baby. Concerning early bedtime: without forcing him to sleep, after the first month I started giving him regular baths at 8:30 pm, then a feed and then bedtime. He would immediately fall asleep afterwards and sleep for at least 4 hours, followed by a quick feed and change and another 4 hour sleep. Worked out pretty good at night. Around 2 months he started sleeping for 5-6 hours after bath time, followed by 2-3 hours after that.
