The South Korean government demanded the immediate withdrawal of North Korean troops allegedly deployed in Russia, warning the government "will not stand by." South Korean Deputy National Security Adviser Kim Tae-hyo spoke at a news conference Tuesday afternoon following a National Security Council meeting. "If this illegal cooperation between North Korea and Russia continues the government will not stand by, and it will respond in a firm manner with the international community," he said. Kim also said response measures would be taken in steps but did not specify the measures that may be taken. South Korea's spy agency said Friday it had confirmed that North Korea sent 1,500 special operation forces to Russia this month to support Moscow's war in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said his government had intelligence that 10,000 North Korean soldiers were being prepared to join invading Russian forces. Cooperation between North Korea and Russia has flourished over the past two years. The U.S., South Korea and their partners have accused North Korea of supplying conventional arms to Russia in return for economic and military assistance. In June, Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a pact stipulating mutual military assistance if either country is attacked.

This is a dangerous move in more than 1 way. Once NK soldiers get a taste of life outside of NK I bet there will be many defections

"If you don't do what we demand. We will write a very. Very. Very. Strongly worded letter."

Unfortunately, whether in the right or not, reality is... there isn't much of any response that would change Russia or NK behavior.

This is the response that the United States and NATO countries should be having. It's a damn shame that South Korea had to make these statements and threats. Thank you so much for your loyalty to Ukraine and the Democratic governments of the world. God bless you and Ukraine

For those wondering why it’s illegal that NK helps ruSSia, but it’s legal to help Ukraine: ruSSia started the war. It’s the aggressor in this invasion. International law allows allows the defender to be helped but not the aggressor.

Pretty obvious and logical.

Russia is really desperate. The mighty Russian army using people from Africa and North Korea 🤣🤣🤣. They better hope South Korea don't provide their vastly superior armaments to Ukraine as it would be game over.

Anything other than South Korean troops in Ukraine would be a weak response.
