When I think of Sam Cook...I think of 'Cupid' immediately...his voice, so smooth, so tender, so heart-felt. But then everything he sang was. Chain Gang is a repeat of his emotional talent.

You can never go wrong with Sam Cooke. The top of the heap of R & B singers. He never made a bad song. He started out in Gospel music and then moved on to soul music, but he sang Gospel from time to time.

Growing up in Jacksonville FLA. in 1958 I remember the chain gangs would come to clean out the ditches that emptied the swamp behind our house, I think they stopped them not long after that. Hot humid and dealing with water moccasins and sometimes big gators and guards with shotguns, tuff life back then.

Another Saturday Night is one of my favorite songs of all time. Sam Cooke is the man.

Love Sam Cooke. He was nicknamed the "King of Soul". He had lots of great hits in the 50's-60's such as "You Send Me", "Cupid", "Bring It On Home To Me", "Wonderful World", "A Change Is Gonna Come", "Twistin' The Night Away", "Another Saturday Night", "Good Times" etc. Sadly he was shot & killed in 1964 at the age of only 33. But he left us a great legacy of music.

Sam Cooke, Nat King Cole, absolute vocal legends along with Teddy Pendergrass and Luther Vandross. You could only ever imagine the sheer bliss and magic these voices would have created had they ever graced a stage or recording studio together. Too beautiful and glorious for this lifetime.
