Brandy is a special song to me. In August 1972 our destroyer arrived back in Pearl Harbor after a 7 month combat deployment to Vietnam. This song was playing in all the bars and clubs but it was the first time we had ever heard of it. Hearing it now always makes me smile and not because of our adventure off Vietnam but because we all had made it home in one piece.

I was named after this song. My dad was a commercial fisherman & loved the water. Both of my parents have passed away so any rendition of this song is beautiful to me!

A true one hit wonder if there ever was one. This song has appeared in so many movies it's scary (the last being Guardians of the Galaxy 2). Elliot Lurie had a great storytelling voice, it's a shame this band never had another hit. Fun fact - Barry Manilow's song "Mandy" was originally titled "Brandy", but Barry changed it so it wouldn't be confused with this song.

I was a bartender back in 1999 at a bar that sat right on the water. My fiance then would come into the bar and drop a couple dollars in the jukebox...he'd always play this song for me and sing it. He passed away on October 28, 1999, it'll be 22 years in a few days. This brought back incredible memories for me...THANK YOU!! ❤

Believe it or not this is my favorite song! I heard it when it first came out and would played the record over and over. I always said if I had a daughter I would name her Brandy. Guess what I did! And she did Marry a sailor ( in the military) and had 3 beautiful children. Oh the memories! Thank you ❤️

Eliot Lurie, the lead vocalist, released an acapella version of Brandy during the early months of the C-19 lockdown. He's definitely still got it. The man lost none of his voice with age.
