I've been an automotive, light duty diesel technician for 27 years, plus raised up in the car business. Been doing Diesel work for the last 12 years of my career. This video Is Awesome. Very Basic and a great video. I enjoy watching People that are intelligent of this kind of work.

Absolutely superb guide to the system. So clearly and patiently explained that, even as an amateur DIY mechanic, I was able to get to grips with the information and get my head around how to approach a diagnosis of my crank-no-start problem. Useful even just to help me discuss a diagnosis with my mechanic. Real impressive. You are a natural teacher, respect.

Loved your discussion of the overall workings of the system. I have a common rail 5.9 Cummins and it is now 20 plus years old; therefore, diagnostics will being be more and more important. Thank you!

Excellent way to present the number of possibilities involved with the diesel fuel system. Enjoyed your sensibility and respect towards the art of the engine vs the vulgarian F bomb bad boy way. Classic!!!

Wow!
I feel a little less stupid knowing about diesel systems. I've watched this video twice and made plenty of notes. I reckon by the time I watch this video for the fifth time I should know something. I'm looking forward to another basic diesel education. Keep them coming.
Great work Chris.

I grew up in a Garage father, uncle granddad all Mechanics. Sorry now were called Tech's . I remember my Dad teaching me and he always said books are good, But if you can't visualized what going on and have a good mental image of how its working . you will never understand it ! Great video !!

Wow just got to say really great video. you covered so much here and in such a good systematic way and easy to under stand. Only two things i could add here, for a non starting diesel engine are 1 cranking speed which you covered by saying battery but also starter motors can be the problem. but some diesel engines need a minimum crank speed to start. and 2 is EGR valves, if these are stuck in open position they can stop engine starting as the air/fuel mixture is compromised/disrupted.
Thanks again for the great video

I know you'll wonder how I finished the whole video in 42 minutes ... and the answer is 1.5x speed 😁. Great video man. I even learned a few things
