Speech-language therapist here - loving your voice these days, Dr. Dray! A lot less vocal fry, which can be damaging to our vocal cords in the long run. Cheers and thank you for the informative video.

I have been using differin for almost 4 years now and it's been the only thing that has helped tremendously with my cystic acne. I'll never stop using it!

As a mature woman with sensitive skin as I have lupus I have had no issues with using Differin. I love it. I have wasted more money on serums for age spots and this helps way more. Thank you

Adapalene has transformed my skin. I’ve always had such clogged pores. I went to a dermatologist and the treatment didn’t help. I picked up the adapalene at target after struggling with acne since I was 12 and I’m 31 now. My pores are clearing out after about 3 months. Nothing has made my skin look this good

I am absolutely OBSESSED with Differin. I’ve been using it for decades. I can’t really tolerate tretinoin. I have rosacea, and tretinoin really tears my face up something terrible. However, Differin actually seems to calm my rosacea and gives me baby soft, smooth, even skin. Now into my 50’s…I have very few very fine lines. I attribute that to my decades of differin use. I used to get it from my derm with an rx. Now I just buy the OTC version. Love it!

Adapalene has been a fantastic treatment for my skin over the last year. I upgraded from retinol to adapalene last year and it's made my skin look amazing. So my teenage son and I are both using it for different reasons - and we are both getting great results. I don't see myself moving to Tretinoin.

I was prescribed Differin when it first came out. It's very good and one of the better over the counter skincare bargains out there. It does help with my sunspots and skin texture too, similar to what Retin A does. I've used both.

Great timing for this video for me! I just started using Differin. I’ve stayed away from it because I thought it would be too harsh or drying for me, compared to other retinoids. I guess my experience with other topical acne treatments has made me apprehensive. But I’ve been struggling more and more with acne, even though I was using retinal. I’ve only used Differin twice (introducing it slowly), but I haven’t had any adverse effects so far. This video has made me much more confident that I’ll be able to tolerate it and that it may be a great retinoid for me!

I just started using differin exactly 3 weeks ago as I was so afraid of purging and have acne on just my cheeks. I've suffered with hormonal acne for 10 years now and although it calmed down as I got older, I was still getting deep scarring that takes forever to heal. It is just my luck that after 2 weeks, I'm not really breaking out anymore. I know I can't really say I'm in the clear until the next 2ish months go by, but I'm super happy right now! I already see my hyperpigmentation fading each day along with consistent sunscreen use <3

I’d love to see more research on the anti-aging effects of adapalene. I understand that it’s more selective in terms of the receptors it affects relative to tretinoin. A head-to-head comparison of anti-aging / photo aging treatment would be interesting to see.

I've used Differin regularly for 5+ years. It has done wonders to my skin. Didn't get rid of acne completely but it is much more under control than before and spots are smaller and not huge bumps as I had before. The biggest improvement has been smoothness and brightness of the skin - it looks flawless now and so soft to touch. It took me long time to get used to it since I have sensitive skin but has been skin changing. Now I am trying isotretinoin topical - I'm finding it way gentler than Differin and was able to use it every day since beginning with no irritation. I've also got some tazarotene to try next.

I used tretinoin in the past and my skin looked amazing... I fell off the routine for a while and decided to start back on adapeline due to it being easier to get hold of... 8 months on adapeline and my acne is all but gone and my skin has the same clean glow I had when I was on tretinoin.

I am 79 and was a sun worshipper for many years. I have been working on the spots on my face, but don’t tolerate tret on my neck/chest. I actually have some differin left from starting my retinoid journey. Now I will try using it on my neck and chest! Why did I not think of this before?! Thank you! You are great! 😊

I have rosacea and i can tolerate adapalene once a week. I use the sandwich method. It has definitely helped my rosacea!! My face is less red and i almost dont get anymore pustules or papules. During the rest of the week i rotate between soolantra, finacea and rosex. In the am i use spf as a moisturizer 😊

I just have to say how your Adapalene application video helped me to transform my skin. Your recommended routine was the only one that worked when starting this, i was really nervous bc of the potential skin purging but it didn’t last too long. Thank you so much Dr. Dray ❤

Both adapalene and tretinoin are topical retinoids that are effective for treating acne and signs of aging. However, there are some key differences between the two medications.

Adapalene

Adapalene is a third-generation retinoid that is available over-the-counter (OTC) in the United States. It is less irritating than tretinoin and is a good option for people with sensitive skin. Adapalene is effective for treating mild to moderate acne, but it is not as effective as tretinoin for severe acne. Adapalene has also been shown to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but it is not as potent as tretinoin for anti-aging.

Tretinoin

Tretinoin is a first-generation retinoid that is available by prescription. It is the most potent retinoid available and is the gold standard for treating acne and signs of aging. Tretinoin is effective for treating all types of acne, including mild, moderate, and severe acne. It is also effective for improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, and hyperpigmentation. However, tretinoin can be irritating to the skin, especially when first starting out.

Overall, tretinoin is the more effective medication for acne and anti-aging. However, adapalene is a good option for people with sensitive skin or those who are new to retinoids.
