My goal was to be transparent about how not all businesses become successful and to normalize not being afraid to fail and then pivot.

As someone who has "failed" quite a bit I will say to you what I say to myself... Lessons are never free and it wasn't a failure it was the cost for the lesson. Rooting for you!! Your authenticity is one of your greatest attribute. Keep Going!

I don't have a t-shirt business, but I have children's books online that will not sell. I wrote and illustrated these books all by myself. No AI was involved (no disrespect to anyone who utilizes AI). People admire my books but will not buy them. I've only sold 3 copies (2 of them were the same book and were purchased by my Mom and her best friend). I've created and released these books within a year. I tried to market myself the best way I knew how (which I still need to work on because I struggle with that component), but still no success. I am frustrated and at a point where I feel like throwing in the towel. People will buy your things after you are dead and gone. Folks are so backward. Your work becomes more valuable and a novelty when you are no longer physically here. Support business owners while they are still alive because they won't need the money when they are dead. So glad I clicked on this video. It really hit home for me. I started by T-shirt brand about 3 years ago, but I stumbled upon T-shirts along the way teaching women of faith how to pray. I prayed today because like you, I realized this is not the legacy I want to leave behind. God has been dealing with me for sometime and I’m making the decision now of putting all of my energy into what The Most High has called me to do.

This is so true I've been a one woman show and working like a dog at my regular job just to invest hundreds and thousands into buying the supplies making it, taking pics and videos, just to get nowhere. I love making the products the marketing is the hard part, the getting people to buy.

I needed this! I’m literally sitting here trying to force myself to advertise these t-shirts. I love teaching others. I have 2 TikToks. One of them is for my t-shirts. I barely get any engagement. My other is teaching crafts. It took off almost immediately!

girl i winged it as well, i thought i had it going on hunni i had orders coming in and at the time i hated my job so i didnt care about it anymore. I started going in late because i was working on orders and eventually i got fired(which I felt such relief). Long story short doing tshirts was not my passion and God allowed me to through a situation that stopped me from doing tshirts completely. I am currently focusing on my passion which is sewing.

I bought a press machine a silhouette machine vinyl paper and etc and I did it to get into the business of making t-shirts but I'm just not in the mood, its something I don't want to do I just thought because so many people are doing it that I can do it and I haven't been able to get myself together as far as being a salesperson or committing to it, I tried to make about 3 t-shirts and I quit because it's not what I want its what other people are good at doing to make money and I'm trying to substitute with something else besides working a 9-5 putting up with attitudes disrespect and unhappy bosses I don't want to go through that but this is not what I want either 😔

I've been in business for years. I have or had several businesses. Some good and some bad, but I learned a lot from the not so good businesses that I owned. I got rid of the unprofitable ones, but I also took losses. You have learned a lot and can take with you to another business. I'm certain you will be successful in your next business venture. Failure leads to success. Mistakes leads to success as well.

This was so inspirational in so many ways. I also started my tshirt business in a hope to quit my job and be my own boss . I even thought about youtube. After trying to get a website set up for myself i have now found myself in love with web development and coding. So it was like a click when i hear how one path led you to another. I don't even know how I got to this video but it's so empowering to hear someone being so genuine and speak truth to power. Most people do not succeed on their first business endeavor and things almost never go as planned. However, someone needs to know that they are not alone, that this is just the reality. Your experience can better prepare someone for reality and hopefully encourage them to not only keep going, but to wait until they're better prepared and have done enough research. Hopefully they will keep trying knowing that that like you they've not failed, but just haven't found the right recipe for what they are attempting to do. There is no lesson as valuable as a bought lesson, but a taught lesson is for the wise! Please don't give up entirely, keep doing you and use your 1st lesson as foundation for your empire sis.
