I was working on my raised bed garden just this morning. I have a vegega 8x4, 6x2 and 4x2. I will be growing leaf veggies and onions, tomatoes for my fall garden. I had a bumper crop of tomato’s, bell peppers, egg plant this past spring/ summer. I put cardboard on the bottom to help kill out any weeds/ grass. The soil here in Florida is awful so my best bet was the raised beds, where I could bring in some good soil and easiest to water.

We have nine raised beds. It’s the best thing we have ever done. Give it a try. Nice looking bed. Nothing like your own veggies. Good luck✌️🇺🇸❤️

Mike- you mentioned you were going to use wood in the bottom of the raised bed- this is not recommended as mold & mildew can develop doing this - Your better off filling it completely with Raised garden bed mix ❤ you’ll get better results- Happy gardening

Like this raised bed. I have done wooden beds, & sack bags of all sizes. This
looks more hardy of a style.

I have a few raised that I built myself in the bottom they have logs limbs cardboard ect. they work great here in the winter the summers are just too hot. My soil here is nothing but dead sand with little dirt I brought in a dump truck of clay soil mixed it with the sandy dirt and cow manure My regular garden is an acre
Best luck with your garden adventure

Myke you made me smile - it's a rare sight to see a man actually read directions before trying to assemble something - not that it was necessary for this build 😊😊 That raised bed looks great, best of luck with your garden. God bless.

That raised bed will be good for me. I don’t have equipment to build anything from scratch.

For the last couple years I do my garden in empty mineral tubs that a few farmer friends have given me after the cattle are done with them . I use to have a big garden but due to eye issues I started doing a patio garden and love it.

We bought 4 3x6x2 ft. raised beds early this spring to experiment with. We put old scrape tree branches in the bottom, then cardboard, then dirt and potting soil. We know the wood will eventually break down and we will need to add more soil. They have done unbelievably well and are planning on adding 2 more 4x8x2 ft beds for next year!

Just remember when you do your compost for your garden don't use any hay or straw in the compost because if you do you're gonna get all the weeds that the farmers had in their fields in your garden only wood chip compost and chicken poop and whatever rabbit poop I don't even like using compost that I have my vegetables that I put in there because then it gets slugged baby slugged in it the first year I did in my garden it was full of baby slugs so I haven't used compost in my garden for the past two years I just put my chicken poop and my wood chips in the garden in the winter and then let the chickens in there to stir it up but I put hay or straw in my chicken coop once use that threw it in my raised bed for my kale and it killed all the kale because it was full of crabgrass which came out of the farmer's field so I didn't get any kale this year well 6 or 7 plants of it but usually I have one whole bed just for kale

Hello from Grand Rapids Michigan! I've been going into the raised bed option. So many styles to choose from. In years past I grew all my tomatoes and peppers in the ground. Tomatoes did great. Peppers not so much. This year I planted all my vegetables in grow bags. Tomatoes didn't do well but the peppers, zucchini, yellow squash and cucumber did great! Next year I'll plant all my tomatoes in the ground and everything else in grow bags. Wishing you much success with the new garden plans! I look forward to seeing it unfold!! God bless you and your family.

I've looked at these so many times but haven't pulled the plug yet. I saw a lady who saves her dead leaves and puts them in the bottom, watering them in, and that way you don't need as much dirt to fill them....And the leaves break down over time.

I’m excited about this new raised bed gardening venture. I hope you have better luck this go around. One good thing about raised beds….you won’t have to bend over as far!
