Firehouse Subs sells 5-gallon pickle buckets for $3 each and all the money goes to the firefighters. I also get laundry baskets from the Dollar Tree and line them with cheap fabric or a trash bag use zip ties to secure.

I had 6 3'x12' raised beds that were 8" deep. I'm getting older and wanted to make things higher with less bending, so I'm going with 5 gallon buckets. Did 50 this year and will do at least 50 next year. I have an issue with deer, ground hogs, and rabbits so it's all fenced in 32'x40'. LOVE your gardening videos!!!!

Another idea is an old bookcase with a back or not from a garage sale, lay flat & you have divided sections to plant in

I work at a family owned garden center in the northwest. I always tell people in doesn't have to be fancy, it just has to work. You should always just look around at what you have and think outside the box. I personally think kiddie swimming pools work great, just make sure holes are drilled into the bottom for good drainage.

Your raised beds are great and love the raised bottoms Mike put in them. Great idea. We are using grandma's 2 galvanized wash tubs on legs, several grow bags, 4 raised beds on legs, and lots of plastic, clay, and ceramic pots on the ground, shepherd's hooks and on an old iron shelving unit. Shallow planting on a bird bath. Looking for old dome grills at sales or roadside for more raised beds.

I have several large indoor plant containers I don't use inside anymore (plastic, ceramic, etc.). I have always saved styrofoam peanuts from shipments and put them in the bottom to lighten the containers. Now that I am out of styrofoam peanuts I have moved on to using pinecones that are abundant on my property. We usually have some screen material so I put that down over the filler. Just an FYI as to what I do. Hoping you get enough views that we can see the abundance of your veggie and flower gardens. Always love your ideas. Your deck planters are really nice!

Thank you so much for this video! I am a millennial and learning to garden for the first time this year. I'm practicing with raised beds on my patio right now.

I loved this video ...so many good ideas ! It reminded me that we have two old clawfoot bathtubs that are waiting for me to finish filling and plant again ( used to have strawberries planted in them).. Time to get at it !

You can also use cattle mineral tubs. I think they are bigger than 5 gallon. On my ranch, they are just litter, so I pick them up and use them. I also cut cattle panel and made a circular, approximately 18 inch deep pen. It would be pretty easy to cover it to keep deer out.

Love this video! Wonderful ideas for those of us who have small yards. I grow alot on my front porch in plastic bins and they take alot of soil so was glad to see all the ideas for filling up the pots so cut down on the soil needed.

Great ideas, thanks!! I use the cardboard box idea to make planters also. I wrap them with chicken fence to gives them a bit longer life.
