For anyone that is looking into purchasing BattleBorn batteries, please make sure that they are what you want to buy. The capacity of the battery bank that Martin shows here is 19.2kWh. To get that capacity with BattleBorn batteries, you need to spend $11, 600 (with Martin's code and the current sale they have), but to get a system from other companies with the same capacity can be half the price. Using EG4 as an example, you can get 4 EG4 LL-S 48V 100AH server rack batteries for $1, 299 for a total of $5, 196 which is the exact same capacity as Martins setup (48V 400AH total system capacity) for half the price. And this doesn't even include the extra safety protections in the EG4 batteries like full UL code compliance, true BMS monitoring, and even on-board fire arrestors for if a fire were to start in the battery (while this doesn't normally happen, it is a code requirement for compliance, something the BattleBorns don't have). And EG4 does engineer their batteries in Texas so they are not designed in China if that matters to you.

Please just look at options other than BattleBorn, they are charging way too much in this current market when there are trusted brands making better products for cheaper now. I would highly recommend the YouTube channel DIY Solar with Will Prowse for some more information about all of the different solar/battery options out there.

You could’ve bought five EG4 PowerPro’s and got 71.5k storage instead of 19.2k and still saved another thousand dollars 😮

$ 750 for one RV battery? 100 amp deep cycle? Are you nuts?

Thanks Martin, we’re leaving the military moving to northern Idaho and are going solar too. Definitely set on victron and always appreciate extra info on batteries, thanks again

Oh there it is 8:51
Now he did say they had them for a few years already I’ll give them that, there were limited options for quality lfp batteries but to recommend this today for home battery storage is insane, I could understand getting 1 or 2 for rv use and so on, this is $12, 000 for 20.4kwh anyone who looking to get a system, please do your research, today there are many better designs for home battery systems at less than 1/2 the cost for storage.
This looks like a great system and I believe it will work well for many year.
Great post and thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the recommendations. I live just outside the city limits of Bowling Green, Ky. I often think about getting a solar system put on the roofs of my home and would like to have a battery backup system as well.
I love gathering information to plan my change over.
Love your channel.

I love your setup, im a vet that lives off my disability but am looking to get off grid and looking to setup a solar system and yours is the way i want to go. Just need to figure out how to afford this setup, lol just the batteries themselves are not cheap to get into

No way! I was just going to watch your video on the same topic from 4 years ago ahaha. Gonna watch them both now. Btw great content man, keep it going

I know there is a lot of hate in the comments on pricing for batteries, I agree but I really do wish battle born would make a 48v version for home storage at a reasonable competitive price.

I need an instructional video on how to get a company to send me $100, 000 worth of solar equipment. I’ll figure out the rest on my own.

I was just about to comment “where can i get a wiring diagram” when he said “there’s a link to the wiring diagram down below” lol 😂

They have some DIY batteries that I think could cut your cost by over half for your batteries and give you even higher capacity. Just one of them is 48v 15, 000WH for under $2000
I am not in the place to make much use of that, I am on the grid still and consume a lot of power, but for you I think it makes a ton of sense.

Obviouly this was sponsored, so you probably didnt buy them, but if your money was on the line (as it is for the viewers) making a recommendation :)

Great video. DC safety is important as it kills worse than AC. Those solar DC input leads with exposed wiring, should ideally be cut so there's no exposed copper.

awesome set up but EG4 server batteries would have been much cheaper. They have BMS communication and work well with victron. This is a great setup but alot of work and makes sense only if you have an unlimited budget and time to make a bunch of terminal connections. The more builds I do the more I love the simplicity and safety of server rack or larger batteries. They also save space, probably could have put double the capacity or more with the same cost. Also, all those bare terminal connections scare me, more insulation on the terminals is a must.Great video and set up, just tips for improvement.

Great information to chew on...😂😅 I can tell by the comments that the batteries aren't the only thing getting heated..😅😅😊❤

will prowse gave me one a couple of years ago. It works way better than the AGM it replaced. It runs my secondary solar power system, 12v. my primary is a 48v XW Pro whole house system. The BB is great

Battleborn just a matter of taste, everyplace he say’s battle born just replace those words with lithium ion. There’s hundreds of companies making lithium batteries
