Choosing a high school math curriculum can seem like a lengthy task! I can assure you that it is not a high school subject that I take lightly! Math is one of the subjects that is a non-negotiable every day. For high school, that means it has to be fairly independent (when I'm also homeschooling multiple other kids!) as well as check off other numerous boxes when it comes to choosing a math curriculum for high school. Here is my honest review on Shormann Math and if I plan to continue using it in the coming years!
Enjoy and thanks for watching!

Thanks for your review. I am considering Shormann for my oldest homeschooled child starting with Pre-Algebra.

I just wanted to make you aware that Math U See (MUS) Algebra 1 (as you already found out) covers a little less than a typical Algebra 1 course, but their Algebra 2 course covers a little more, so the two together give you the same content as a typical Algebra sequence. My older step kids came out of a private Christian school in 8th grade, having completed MUS Algebra 1 at that school. Their whole K-8 math education was MUS taught at that school. They went straight into Honors Geometry at the public high school and did very well. The initial couple of weeks were a little rocky since MUS Algebra 1 does not allow the use of calculators while the kids at the high school were already accustomed to the use of calculators, but other than that I felt MUS prepared them well. There was also a student who had completed MUS Geometry over the summer between her 8th and 9th grade year and went straight into Honors Algebra 2 at the high school and did extremely well (she graduated valedictorian). Keep in mind that most traditional program sequences intersect Geometry in between Algebra 1 und Algebra 2, so I have always wondered how much the kids remember from Algebra 1 when they start Algebra 2. I'm not saying that that's ideal, but it's the reality a lot of times.

Thanks for the review. I'm considering it. I kept thinking it was my kids in the background, though. LOL

Shormann did not work for my children. Far too heavy for us as 2-3 hours is much longer than I would like my kiddos to spend on math. There was a lot to appreciate but wasn’t as great of a fit as I’d hoped.

Do you wish that he would have done Shormann for 7th and 8th and skipped math u see? I just feel like Shormann might be too difficult for my son but I'm hearing Dennison is for students who need extra help with math. My son is in the middle so thinking about using math u see. I just will need to prioritize grading which I haven't been good at for him these last two years with simply good and beautiful math.
