The correct move for an MBT in the Abrams' situation here where you end up in a 1v2 and have a downhill slope to your rear is to mobility kill one tank with your first shot and then straight reverse off the back side of the slope. You ain't winning the 1v2 unless they are in shit tanks (T-62s/M60s) or their crews suck ass. That way you have created a dilemma for the non-disabled tank (does he chase you for a 1v1 when he doesn't know your position anymore, leaving his disabled buddy alone, OR cover the repairs and let you get away?) AND you have bought time for your team to bring assets over to engage the disabled tank, with about 0 risk to your own tank.

Does squad have a vehicle penetration system like war thunder ghpc, or arma now? Or is it still a dumb healthbar still?
Because stuff like this if the ambush works well should be able to 1 to 2 shot a tank.

Squad armored combat is juat too unrealistic. Its more HP based than realistic as more often than not a solid side shot finishes a tank IRL.

One thing squad doesn't get right is its armored combat. Everything else is a reasonable level of immersion and vehicles just feel like your playing world of tanks. Like in this situation the Abrams put a side shot in that first tank and it should have been dead, the second is iffy but the fact the abrams got 3 shots off and all hits before the ZTZ's even fired means they should have won that engagement.

That Abrams should have AT crew nearby on standby for the other ztz. The only way this is a viable strategy if the Abrams is far away and has a hiding spot after firing it's gun.

This game must have a terrible armor system for this Abrams to lose that fight. The first hit would have absolutely ended the first tank. The first shot against the second tank would have at least disabled instead the Abrams was forced to fight two tanks that would have already been destroyed.
