How to boot Surface from USB - Windows 10 Fresh Install

In today’s video I cover how to boot a Surface Pro laptop from USB thumb drive to install a fresh new operating system. To boot from an operating system on a USB drive, the first step would be to shut down the Surface, plug in your bootable USB drive, hold the power button and volume down button at the same time until the Surface logo appears, release the power button when the Surface logo appears but continue to hold the volume down button until the spinning dots start then release the volume down button. From there you should boot from the USB thumb drive.

Great Vid! Sadly I got stuck choosing the drive to install Windows onto. It claims that my drive is not compatible to install windows, even after tying to convert it to GPT and MBR. Dont know if there is anything else I could try. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Just a heads up, if you have a surface pro 7, get into the bios and for secure boot, choose option 2. Enable Windows and 3rd Party CA. You'll thank me later 😌.

I installed Windows 11 update and then next day when I opened my lap, it said "problem occurred" and then it kept restarting. Down side there was a text saying stop code: unmountable boot volume

Hey I get to the first page Windows Setup after powering on with my USB in, but the screen seems to have frozen and I have no cursor/touchscreen does not work so I can't get any further - do you know how I can fix this issue? Thanks
