This is my favorite way to practice video editing!

One of my favorite ways to practice editing is to create trailers for movies that don't exist. In today's video, we're going to make a movie trailer using only stock footage and other assets from today's sponsor, Artlist Max.

the video is almost just an advertisement for the artlist, I mean it's kind of a help, but most of the editor won't pay artlist just to practice, why didn't you make a video that uses free stock footage, or even film yourself to show those who are just starting out on the editing journey that you can practice without spending money, after all the editor who is already working probably already knows about artlist and how good it's, but not every beginner, you could use something for free and for music it could be from the subscription since it is best known because of this, and then say that you could use something free too, but it wouldn't have the same quality or impact

Thank you so much for this. I haven't practiced my editing in way too long and didn't know where to begin but making trailers is a great idea!

Love the SUPER creepy trailer! And this is a great idea for practice! A lot faster than animating all the parts, sigh. And, if what a person comes up with is good, it can be part of a portfolio reel.

Everything is nice, but price for ARTLIST is 60$... It's too much just for practice video editing...can I get some free site for stock videos?

What a great idea. I've just started getting into video editing with LumaFusion, and the biggest challenge has been that I just don't have much footage to edit! It's winter where I am, and I just don't want to trudge around out in the cold and snow shooting random clips. Plus, I don't yet have the eye or the skill to shoot good useable footage that is all going to work together. I'll get better at shooting footage with practice, sure, but in the meantime I need to practice my editing.

I do get annoyed at one thing with stock footage, though, and that is that they are often already slow-motion, with pans and zooms...stuff *I* wanted to practice adding in the editing process! Grr. Oh well.

OMG!!! I do the exact same thing when practicing. Glad I'm not the only one who creates fake movie trailers.

Great idea for skill building - sounds like a community opportunity; Faux Movie Trailer Challenge! Even when you're showing something like this, I still pick up great tips and terms - didn't know about the "driving sound" as a term before 😀

I am a beginner in video editing, and I love using capcut for my video editing skill.

Are there any more apps I can try?

Hey Jay. My favorite way to learn more about editing is to shoot the family videos and then try to make something of them.

Hi, very inspiring video! Could I ask how long it took you to make this trailer, including finding the media? Thanks!

Hi! New to Davinci Resolve here. I do comic book videos and often pan and scan down or across specific comic book panels. In other software I'm typically able to select a 16x9 aspect ratio for a 9x16 comic page but I can't figure out how to change the size of the green and red boxes to that 16x9 aspect ratio in Resolve. Any tips?
