Practicing pentatonic scale keeping you big as hell

My guitar teacher recommended to improvise the pentatonic scale (or any scale) on just two strings and if you get good at using every string combination you'll be able to remember the scale well.

I do not know how its called in english, but my teacher gave me a pretty cool and effective way to learn and get used to pentatonics. For the explanation every number is the consecutive note of the scale (1 = first note, 2 = second note and so on). The pattern you play is like this: 1 2 3, 2 3 4, 3 4 5, 4 5 6, 5 6 7, 6 7 8, 7 6 5, 6 5 4, 5 4 3, 4 3 2, 3 2 1.
You also can do it with groups of 4.
1234, 2345, 3456...i think you got it.
You may try that aswell. He said it helps to play one scale a bit more loose and not always the same.

The other fun thing to do when you hit the top position is to run back down the scale to your lowest root in that position and then keep moving up the neck with the original pattern.

A very good explanation, I understand it, the way you explained makes it easy to grasp, thanks! 👍

All good fun. He's extremely knowledgeable. I'm sure he has a good program. I'm broke so I get some of it this way 😊 I sure haven't seen or heard him play or say anything that was wrong. He makes good sense

There is no right or wrong way, only your preference for tones and play style. Play like how you play whether its influenced by certain other guitarists and/or your own unique sense of the frettboard. Scales are scales and unique melodic skelli-tones(lol) for helping you to play meatier stuff. Try string skipping notes try playing the pentatonics in forths and thirds try to play it with 6ths and 7ths even…Theres sooo many ways and whether you play up and down and/or accross the fretboard is up to you. Try the “modes” of the pentatonics even just play that axe.

Thank God I watched Eric Clapton. And yes. I do only play in pentatonic scale. In fact, I can barely do the wrong way that I always use the right way.
