Join me on a daring journey as I cross into one of the world's most contentious regions. Known as Pakistan-occupied Kashmir or Ladakh in India and Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan, this disputed territory is a landscape of tension and beauty. Follow my path over the breathtaking Babusar Top, where the border line blurs and adventure begins.

The landscape is incredible, isn't it?
The journey continues all the way to the China border, through Skardu, and back to India too!

You're doing great Karl. I'm sure your wife would appreciate this video for bringing this hidden gem a little closer to home, even though she might never get to experience it herself. This is incredible.

I've lived in Pakistan all my life and haven't done anything like this, 😢 alone on a bike and navigating through the entire northern areas of Pakistan.. What an amazing trip. And yes it's sad that India - Pakistan relations are not good and your wife could not visit. Maybe in the future our political disputes are set aside and people of both countries can go on such trips. And BTW, your Urdu/Hindi has improved over time. 👍🏻👍🏻

I gotta be honest here. Making Babusar out to seem like it's some sort of super restricted region is not really true. Think about it, would a super restrictive region have zip lines that people are enjoying on??. These checkpoints are a dime and a dozen all across the northern areas of Pakistan and you can see in the video that after asking a few basic questions they let him go.

I think Karl is falling trap to the bug of most influencers where they have to add some masala to their videos.

damn shame

What an adventure this must have been! I was surprised and off guard by how friendly the border guards were!

Grand to see proper travel videos and contentious framing are still on offer.

Have been watching for a few years, and perhaps I’ve missed it, but would be interested in a quick behind the scenes on how you plan and edit these.

Cheers and thanks,

Karl! I love your videos exploring Pakistan in an honest manner. Looking forward to seeing more of your Northern trip

Being a Pakistani, India is my second home. I wish I could visit it someday but just as you mentioned, it's insanely difficult.

It's really interesting. I am an explorer too, but differently. I am Dutch, I understand you're half Dutch (too). I am so lucky to live in Kashmir, India. I would love to see Azad Kashmir as well. Seen several videos of that. In my humble opinion Kashmir is the most beautiful with its divine nature. As the Shah Jahangir first stated "if there is paradise on earth, it is here, it is here, it is here". The hospitality of its people outstand all and I am sure in Pakistan it's no different. If only India would not have been divided in 1947. My dream is, one day, Insha Allah soon, borders (all over the world) will disappear, reuniting all people. We're all human, we're all connected: my birthplace is earth, my race is human, my religion is love and my politics is freedom. Isn't that what we all want? Everything and everyone is energy, even the stone is alive when you check on the nano level, nature in Kashmir is so alive and healing. Kashir che myon dil; Kashmir mera dil hain.

I watched the entire movie of your trip, but this was a really interesting part of the journey. I thought about the children on the side of the road. No ipads, Xbox, or tv. Just Mother Nature and living off the land. Such a simple but difficult life. No worries. Just a simple life. An amazing journey. Thanks for sharing.

"Naswar" = tobacco, slaked lime, indigo, cardamom, oil, menthol, ash from juniper bark, water. Highest quality is from Khyber region.

Keep up the good work Karl. Thoroughly enjoyed your journey. I have visited Babusar top myself back in 2011. Ignore ALL the negative comments. Both India 🇮🇳 & Pakistan landscape is beautiful shame that the people on both side cannot enjoy each other’s land in peace. 👍🏽👌🏽😃

I've seen your videos for years - all good, but never subscribed. This series is different. It feels like a front / direct view of what you are experiencing. So, I subscribed. I really enjoy where this is going.
