I was searching for a professional wifi AP and found Mikrotik, wow alot of power for the money, I also love ubiquity but with mikrotik you do not need a seperate controller inteface to manage . I set up an AP at my marina, pointing at my boat in the mooring field my boat is 1KM or .6 miles away from the antenna and then used a powerful groove A radio to bring it into the boat to a router. completely flexible and programmable.

I got a Mikrotik RB4011 a few weeks ago. It's big step up in functionality from my previous Tomato-based router and the learning curve is very steep at first, but well worth it. And it's just amazing that they are so cheap!

Be careful with relays. They produce power spikes when turned off. You need a diode to limit the surge. Our buy a relay board for arduino. Almost all of them have this diode on the board.
