The MikroTik RB5009UPr+S+IN is a PoE/PoE+ out switch with PoE -in, 10GbE via SFP+, 2.5GbE, and 7x 1GbE ports all at low power. There is even a GUI to manage via RouterOS. See the main site article for more details.

Looks nice. YouTube overlays text over where your text is. Makes it a PITA to read.

Mikrotik has made great stuff for a long time.

I have one of these on the bench at work that I'm evaluating both as an OOB router and as something that can serve as a canary about the status of diverse circuits at a site. (The three power sources can be monitored via /system/health)

A quirk I've observed is that active 802.3af/at on port #1 doesn't seem to activate unless power to other sources is off - so if you want to use that for redundancy it won't be hitless since the board will have to go down first when power to other sources is lost. (Or you'll have to develop some scheme to activate the passive power sources _after_ the board boots on active PoE)

Passive PoE on ports 2-8 seems to mix with the barrel and 2-pin without issue though.

Checked this out because of the STH site post. Maybe after some viewings the algorithm will learn

Worth mentioning that the performance rating is based on the ports it has, so it's not going to exceed 10Gb/s in those test results.

Whether it *could* exceed 10gbs is subjective and depends what features you implement. I believe the switch can do L3 offload, but that doesn't meet my own needs as it's always used as a firewall.

honestly for that price i would have preferred if all the ports were 2.5gbe, even it did cost more. if i'm already sinking that much i'd rather go ahead and get one that's a little bit more future proof

I've been waiting to buy one for a while now 😂

That's awesome! To think I struggle to find a cheap mobo & small case with dual ethernet to use a Ry 5 3400g in, to replace my dual Bobcat fanless single NIC (but with WiFi n which was always annoying as I didn't need it as a WAP.

I just bought one of these, it's pretty nice, routerOS is a little confusing at first, but once you get it it's good

Been trying to order one for months now. Wanna update my RB4011 to this and put some of the PoE devices I have on it.

I love that one. I wish it had had a 10Gbit ethernet in addition to the SFP.

It's a shame they didn't use all ports on the switch chip, if I recall the specs correctly there are 8 1 Gbps ports and 3 high speed ports.

Love my 5009, cloudflare docker runs on it so I can get to my tunnels even with my array shut off on my unRAID system.

Actually you can add 5Gbps to the list with a USB dongle.

Is it an arm CPU? Can I run bsd on it?

Test results show 9851Mbps at 1518byte frames, 9551Mbps at 512b and 3138Mbps at 64b, as well as great IPSec throughput (>1Gbps). That seems damn impressive for a $300 device IMO.

How long would it run on a Redflow ZBM3 battery?

Looks cool and all but I'll be sticking to my Cisco 3845B Integrated Services Router

When using PoE in, can the PoE out still function at the same time?
