Hearing about his dark moments and how he overcame them gives me hope.

His message about not having to go through our struggles alone is one that everyone needs to hear. So many think they can just take that on, shut down and deal with it themselves but it really only makes things way worse.

It’s a powerful to think of the people who have been and will be there for me when I need them most. And as another who has had dark days of poor mental health I thank you for sharing so honestly.
Let’s paddle sometime!

Community, family, and friends. These should be the foundation that supports us. Instead of isolating and discriminating. Everyone matters.
I am proud of your accomplishments.

You have masterfully transformed the horrible event of the sudden onset of a debilitating disease into an inspirational speech with a powerful message. Bravo!

Thank you Mike for choosing the "path" to be the "light" to the world that we desperately NEED more of. You are "being" the CHANGE the world needs MORE of.
Mental illness affects "all" of us at various times of: crisis, loss, tragedy, grief, relationship breakup and much more NOT spoken of, including diagnosises that are stigmatizing.
Thank you for breaking the "silence" and paddling all your "emotions" into all the great lakes for all of us, especially those who are striving to connect and break FREE from isolation.
Stay strong in your passion and if you ever need help keep me in mind!😁🙏💞🧚

The idea of having a personal support crew is something we should all strive for! Kind of sad that we live in times where this needs to be sought out instead of just the natural thing but I'm glad to see someone advocating for it.

As a certified Mental Health First Aider, we have a process to follow in helping someone in crisis.
Included in that process is how each MHFA can reach out to another MHFA to seek assistance and support to decompress and look after themselves as well. Having that support system allows all of us to go beyond empathy. Empathy + Action is Compassion. When compassion connects people to help the one and themselves, we would see a massive improvement in mental wellbeing in our communities. Thank you, Mike, for being an incredible advocate, not only for those in distress, but also for those who are supportive.

Moving and powerful. A completely new way of looking at the power of support systems and the teams we build around us.
